That's the reason. On the lay offs. They are making profit and get lower interest rates. I've heard I will work all next week from the steward, the asst said he doesn't think I will. We haven't sent a trailer to cartridge the past two days we been back... I'm gonna ask again tonight.

The asst kept his word and got me a tractor today(not mine but this one is ok and better than a straight truck) and even got me the area I like to cover. He says I will be the third truck for now on in that area if freight allows it. Otherwise I might still have to jump around. As long as I don't have to drive a straight truck I'm ok by that.

i don't mind drinking the rental truck. It's air ridden, has a full lift gate radio etc, that thing was like a cadillac

"Can Trucking Solve the Driver Shortage?

This webcast will be presented live:
    Thursday, November 8, 2012
    3:00pm ET - 4:00pm ET

A shortage of available commercial drivers threatens truckload carriers with higher costs and shippers with much higher rates. The problem is expected to get worse in the near future unless trucking companies and shippers take action. What is the driver shortage, and why does one exist when opportunities are plentiful and unemployment is high? What can carriers do to counter this threat to their core capabilities? How can shippers help?

Our panelists will discuss the driver shortage, examining its root causes and steps companies can take to attract and better manage Drivers."

Is this some kind of a bad joke?

If there is a driver shortage, it's at the bottom feeder companies. Here's an easy solution: better pay, benefits, home time and treating your employees right!

Well I got power back finally, but Cables still out. But I got a warm house now. Gas has a shortage, it's like the 70s again. I'm sure you both rwmember that. People are waiting 1-4 hours just for gas. Tanker trucks are being escorted by cops now. I went for gas at 3am and waited five minutes, I'm not going to drive ANY WHERE

Sorry ACH. At least the power is back on. I have family on Staten Island in a similar situation.
