    No more p/d for me as of 1/2/13. I got the evening switcher bid as no one wanted it... its from 5pm-2am. Hours dont bother me as I worked those for 6 years in a restauant. No overtime which is a HUGE killer but Ill just have to make a budget. BUT the one benefit is now I CANNOT BE LAID OFF again!!! If your on a bid, they go up to the next person. I actually do like switching, plus it will be a nice change

    @Wrangler no way, hes not jolly like that, we call him the scrooge lol

    @Squonk hope your still working

    @Cool35 have you heard back from reddaway yet??

    @Skinny You derserve the vacation!

    Good for you ACH, glad you got a bid.

    Not yet on Reddaway. Still killing me here at FedEx though. Maybe January? That's what I'm hearing anyway. The guy before me got called back, so it's me and one more guy. The guy that got called back said he's not working much. So I'm still better off where I am now. Right now my pay is more than twice what I was making at Reddaway. I'd still go back if they call. Running teams just isn't for me anymore.

    I only got the bid because no one wanted it. Normally when someone doesnt want to cover or a bid then the jr man has to do it...

    Nice to have a set schedule.

    Once you get a bid, can somebody, with more seniority bump you from it? Does it have to be renewed like every year or does it last as long as the position/route lasts? Does being a switcher mean you'll just work at the terminal? What is a switcher? lol

    I believe so, I'm still new to this. Skinny would know best.

    a switcher is a yard jockey. We use a special tractor and switch trailers from the dock to the yard and vice versa. We also hook and unhook all sets and trucks that come in

    Good for you! My advice is check out a lot of different places. Do the free trials. Until you get an idea of what your area has to offer and what's the best fit for you. Also, you've got to find somebody to practice with you at home. It could be a girl, it doesn't matter, but you've got to work on your technique outside of class and you need it on a daily basis. Otherwise, most of the men you start with who stick with it, will leave you behind.

    MMA seems to bring out the worst in some people. Others, it just makes them better.
