    Hi,

I have 1 year and 9 months of Class A experience. I have not driven since 07/2005. many company want recent experience. I would like to return to driving now. I have all endorsments. Looking for companies that will let you take a road test/go with a trainer again, or any advice one might have for someone in my situation. Thanks in advance! Good day!

You could have 20 years experience but if you have not driven in the last 6-12 months. All the big companies will retrain you or want some type of refresher course. You might look around and find a small company or a O/O that will hire you. I think the insurance companies are the ones dictating the rules on rehire status's. If you want to get on with one of the big carriers, you gonna have to start making phonecalls and see who will take you.

Yeah, unless you find an O/O, or small company, some type of refresher course will be needed.

I was in a similar situation, and ended up going to a tech school. Wasn't a bad deal, I actually ended up learning some new things. Community tech schools are usually pretty inexpensive.

    Good luck to you.

Best advice would be to forget trucking.

With a roll over and a poor attitude about damaging equipment nobody worth working for would hire you.

Ummm, I have 12 years driving. The last 1.5 years was hauling gas local and I couldn't seem to find many companies that wanted me because of the "no recent OTR" thing.
I never damaged equipment at all. And never had a rollover, let alone a blase attitude toward it. That's what insurance is for?!? That's what slowing down is for!
A company like Swift, CRE, or Werner might be the only ones in your future.

What refresher course are yall talking about?
I've came off the road twice over the years(about 3 years each time) and never felt the need for a re-adjusdment period.
This ain't rocket science, if you can drive , you can drive.
Believe me, except for the equipment, nothing changes out here.
All you need is a new road atlas.

Tell that to the 21 companies I have applied with that said even though I have 12 years driving overall (10.5 yrs OTR, 1.5 million miles accident free, then 1.5 hauling gas) I don't have the recent OTR experience. It's not the driver, it's the insurance companies. But in his case, a ding here, a ding there and a rollover, maybe a refresher would be needed.

As tight as the employment market is now, a rollover is not going to be something they will go for.
