I’ve been with US Foods for about 10 years now and nearly all major ltl companies are hiring in my area. UPS, FedEx, ABF, Saia, YRC, XPO, Estes, Southeastern Freight, PITT Ohio, etc.. the food business is very hard on the body and I’m starting to feel it after a decade. I’m only 31 so I have plenty of years left before I can retire. Which of these companies would be my best option for a long term career? The UPS job is a full time dockworker with CDL. I would love that job, but I’m afraid I would take a significant pay cut starting out. I make around 70K a year.

You don't get retirement there? Just a 401k?

Friend of mine makes over $70K at Estes and is home every day. He does a line haul job.

Yes, but I don’t know if I have 35 years of food service work left in my body haha.

I make $75-80K after a year at Pitt Ohio and we don’t pay what other companies do. And I don’t touch any freight. Ever. So you’d likely not be taking a paycut...

I was only referring to the full time dockworker with cdl job at UPS when I mentioned the pay cut. I think they start at $17/hr or something like that.

    Dabrian Thanks this.
