Due to relationship issues my whole teaming arrangement may or may not be lasting much longer. So I have been considering what to do if we break up. Obviously there would be issues teaming with that kind of baggage. So I was considering becoming a trainer for Werner, which offers similiar miles, but I get all miles the truck runs rather then splitting.

Then again I have a fear of ending up upside down beside an off-ramp too.

    Decisions decisions...

    Advice?

... I have a real issue thinking about solo. Cause I freak out easy in dark parking lots walking in alone >.>

I cant even go INTO a truck stop alone without at least one guy bothering me.

Some companies will pair you up with another driver wanting to team. You'd be in the truck with a stranger, but that's the same as training. At least the stranger would have some experience. You could probably request a female, too, if you wanted. That would eliminate the risk of a horny guy in your bunk when you were trying to sleep!

I had a similar situation, IROC.

My ex g/f and I split up after teaming. We each went solo, but remained friends and still are today. She was worried about the t/s thing too, as she was also an attractive young woman. She never had much problem with walking through the parking lots, however she did catch a lot of grief on the CB.

One driver took disgusting to a new level. After running with her for several hundred miles and politely conversing with her on the CB, he took it upon himself to expose himself to her while driving down the interstate. He pulled up beside her, stood up in the cab (he was driving a condo Freightliner) next to the seat and dropped his drawers while holding onto the steering wheel with one hand. Not only was he incredibly and unforgivably rude, he was equally as unsafe.

I talked to her on the phone not long after this happened. In an effort to find some humor in the horrible experience, I made mention of how difficult it would have been for him to explain his behavior to a cop had they seen it or if he'd had a wreck.

If walking through the parking lot alone makes you uncomfortable, I wouldn't suggest being a trainer or solo.

Perhaps it's time to ponder the possibilities of a local job?

Very sad you can't get to the door without somebody bothering you.. Many guys just don't have any manners nowadays... you may have issues being a trainer as well , unless you can train only women.. even then you may have a few issues because if there is one thing I know about women it is how they judge each other lol... If you are able to deal with many different personalities then it may be the thing for you... training guys on the other hand your always going to come across the guys who have no manners in that department, your going to get the guys who think that they are gods gift to all women (even thought they only have one tooth and haven't seen a shower in a week)... I probably didn't help you any in your decision but whatever it is, be safe...

what's to stop a horny lesbian from climbing into her bunk?

Iroc.. I can sympathize (but not empathize, I'm afraid) about your problems. One thing to remember is that, so long as they keep their hands to themselves, you are good to go. And it's almost a certainty that they will keep their hands away.

    But yeah, ALMOST a certainty.

Odds are, anybody giving you grief is just looking for a response and can be safely ... well, not ignored, but relegated to the TSTL list. There's always that one, somewhere, that you have to be ready for.

Keep your keys in your fist, key blades out between your fingers - somebody drops a paw on you, a good rake across the face will shut him down quick.

Me.. well, if I were at a truckstop and saw you, I'd probably just drop one arm and run around in circles screaming "Oook! oook!" until I brained myself on the DOT bar of some passing trailer.

I can't really recommend a course of action for you. You'd be perfectly safe in my company (I know my wife, oh, yes I do)... but we work for different companies and I don't want to team, anyway.

Knowing you only from this board, I'd suggest you give solo a try.

Since you are used to teaming and getting the miles, you may want to consider teaming with another female or becoming a trainer. Then you have someone to walk with.

If you go solo, you may want to keep a flannel shirt draped over the passenger's seat to make it look like you have a man in the truck with you.

Some guys never grow up and there is always one who will try to hit on you. They even do it after you think you are old enough for them to stop! I usually smile to acknowledge their appreciation, but either say "No thanks" and move away or just move away! I am married and I usually lay my hand on a counter or put my ring hand up by my face (casually, like rub my cheek or move and imaginary hair off my face) so they know I am off limits. You can always wear a ring.

Best of luck to you and a big hug from me!

    Lurchgs and Baack Thank this.

Bah you had to bring up the ring! The fact we have been married a year and he hasn't bought me any sort of ring is one of the major issues in our relationship grr. I even told him just a plain jane gold ring would be fine, as I don't even like diamonds.

But thanks for all the advice. I realize solo would be fine for me, especially considering that without my hubby I have no bills aside from the cell to my name. No house note, no rent, no electric. But again I am a scaredy cat, do to prior events that have happened, with being around strange men. A defense course wouldn't help and I do have a brown belt, it didn't help me during the prior events and I don't have much faith it would help now. I tend to be one of the 'rudest' girls many guys hit on because my general reaction is to pretend I didn't hear and hope they go away. Somehow the entire scenerio scares me when a stranger starts hitting on me. Eh, it usually flatters me at a later point when I've calmed down.

This is why I have the giant dog, even though I'm very much not a dog person. But it is technically my hubbys dog and I have no interest in taking all his stuff.

Local would be sorta hard without a sleeper I have no place to live :p

If my hubby would just pull his head out of his butt and fix the issues or at least show some effort toward doing such everything would be so much better. I'm not asking mircales here!

I thought about teaming with another person, but again, I have this whole abrasiveness to strangers. It would definatly have to be someone I've met a few times first. Hmm. I have a bunch of friends in Werner's ranks but most of them have wifes whom would NOT be amused.

And Lurch I am not the prettiest girl in the whole world! :biggrin_25522: I'm not even in the top 100. But boy would I laugh at you if you brained yourself.
