I'm am in need of a radio shop with a tech that is very good with export radios. Specifically Superstars, Galaxies and RCI 2950's, I have several that need gone through and/or repaired. I would like someone that would be willing to take a look and diagnose the issues of each radio and provide estimates on the necessary repairs before I spend any money on them.

Some where from from the I-96 corridor in Michigan south to Indianapolis or Cincinnati would be most convenient for me right now, but I'm open to all options to find a quality tech.

    Thanks.

    :biggrin_2556: 2950 EXPORT ?

Ranger should still support the RCI-2950 ..... it is a low end 10 meter radio and is not illegal as such ....

You might call sparkys on the rest at least if he works on them or agrees to you have a fighting chance it will be done right ....

I've heard some good things about Sparky's, but I've never dealt with them.

Where are they located at? I would be interested in stopping in there to talk to them. I prefer that so I can look around and see who I'm dealing with how they do things.

I know what you mean, I'm just assuming a little different skill set may be required to work on them than someone who's area of expertise is Cobra 29's and the like.

I don't think the RCI's are anything that I would bother trying to have the manufacturer work on because they are older models that I picked up used quite a few years ago and I have no knowledge of who's been inside them or what they have done to them. All I do know is that they worked when I first got them and if my memory serves me correctly they quit functioning properly at some point and I never had them repaired. I haven't tested these 2 yet, but I will.

I'm going to sell some of the stuff I have and just want to determine if I want to spend any money to get any of them operating or just sell them "as is" or for parts only.

Some of these shops will keep your radio(s) 6mos to a year. Here's a quality shop in your area of travel. They are very busy, but very good.

Hmm, I've been at that fuel stop several times and never saw a cb shop around there. I'll be going right past there tomorrow afternoon so I'll stop to take a closer look.

    Thanks for the info.

Give Doug a call at http://customcbradios.com/ He has repaired and tuned many radios for me and I have always been very happy with the results. If Sparky himself does the work you should be fine as well. Good luck.

The guy I would refer you to is very fond of the RCI radio, runs one himself. Of course you would probably have to deal with him thru the mail as he is in an out of the way location.......
