Is the newer uniden bc20 as good as the old uniden esp20? I'm currently using a motorola external speaker bought off ebay.

If your using the Motorola speaker now...You have the best speaker! I have two of those I bought off ebay, and IMO they have a better sound than the Unidens.

The Motorolas are about as good as it gets unless you want to go big-time with a GAP or bhi DSP speaker.

admit I haven't tried the Uniden BC20, but do have a uniden esp20, and it's a good speaker, just not as good as the Motorola RSN4001A.

Thanks for the info. It's just I had the esp20 sold it with an old radio. Just seemed it didn't have any feedback/squeal with the noise canceling mics.

Got one..Naww seems weak at higher volume compared to my cobra high gear..Has a bit of a muddy and boxy like sound..Not as clear as i thought i could hear from vids on you tube..
Shoulda bought a nice sounding one when i was at walcott a yr ago...They have about 6-8-10 mounted and all hooked up running off same sound..
Dont know how feasable it is but grab any old cb speaker of decient size and head to a car or home audio shop..Pick one up that fits physically and with specs that matches radios out out..
On the bc20 i tried to help it out a lil with shredded paper towel to fill up the gap inside but no such luck...Might try one of the factory tweeters from my dodge and see if that works..
So if you ask me if its a thumbs up or down.....Im sayin thumbs down...Needs more umph and clarity..
My cobra highgear(300 or 500 dont remember) sounds clear and louder..

I've been pleased with a Cobra S300 external speaker. It's got 15-Watts power capacity and has made a big difference in understanding what's coming over my radio. It's got some noise-canceling circuitry, which unfortunately isn't able to stop the horrible Roger Beeps, echo chambers or flatulence releases so prevalent on the airways today.
