Thats a preventable part of trip planning. NOAA throws a high wind warning or advisary and tip trucks all over.

My limit is 60 when loaded. 35 when empty. Otherwise I park it and wait. Dispatch will just have to wait too. Too expensive to be tipping trucks and loads.

Yep , i remember being stuck in Wyoming , they close I-25/80 for trucks if wind gust reaches 60 mph, i read about a study conducted by Wyoming DOT, even lower winds 45mph plus higher gusts can tip over a light trailer in curves.
    WYDOT Travel Information Service (Cheyenne)

Wind gust maps like this are useful to watch before planning a trip.
    Windy as forecasted

i wonder if the trucker got out, long before the tip over..??

and i gotta say, i ain't never heard of that fuel stop, but the name could be better used at certain places in Nevada..???

todays truckers have it easier than we older ones.

cell phones, laptops, all kinds of apps, etc, etc...

back in my earlier years you did your best to get information on the cb radio, or from drivers at the truck stops, when drivers actually helped you

When I worked at CR England, I sat in Cheyenne, WY for two weeks with a cracked head gasket. I got back to Salt Lake and was told they were not going to pay me for the two weeks of breakdown pay - no reason given. I made it clear they would and described the itemized steps I would take including the phone numbers and contact names in the labor department. They paid.

They then dispatched me to drive an empty trailer from Salt Lake to Cheyenne in the middle of high wind warning season. It took five days to get to Rock Springs before I tapped out and went to work somewhere else.

I don't know about the trucker, i watched this video first on Weather Network , two hours ago, no detail about incident.
At least was smart to park on the shoulder not blown of the road while moving +60mph.

Well i'm not sure, but the google map link i posted above, if you click on "road closed" sign along I-80.25, shows road closed until 11pm.
I-90 also shows closed in South Dakota from Missouri river to Wyoming state line.

    lovesthedrive and Siinman Thank this.
