I have what is called Amblyopia or Lazy Eye. A little more info on this: Amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye, is the eye condition noted by reduced vision not correctable by glasses or contact lenses and is not due to any eye disease. The brain, for some reason, does not fully acknowledge the images seen by the amblyopic eye. In my case is the right eye, but here is the kicker, my left eye is 20/10!. Now my question is this: would this be a problem when taking an eye test for a truck company? I've been driving most of my life and have never had a problem with this, but a CMV might be different.

Do not say anything to anyone and you should be fine as long as you can read the chart and tell them the letters or numbers.

There's no such thing as lazy eye. You more than likely have a disconnected cornea from an untreated ulcer and will probably need a corneal transplant now to correct your vision. A disconnected cornea causes vision fluctuations in the affected eye and that's how it got the name "lazy eye" Good luck. I hope you have insurance.

Love how people without medical degrees will tell you what is wrong with you and don't even know what they are talking about.

Seeing how lazy eye is an actual issue, my wife has it, it is recognized as a vision problem, but hey you know more

I don't have a medical degree but I've been down the same road. Fortunately mine was discovered early enough that it was correctable without the transplant bu it was still very expensive. I had to go see a specialist to get medication custom mixed specifically for me.

That may be what you had... but maybe there is more than one eye infliction. . So, it could be that the OP doesnt have what you did and has something else... like what they said they had...

Question for the OP... can you see out of both eyes... I just closed my right to see if I thougnt I cojld drive witnout it.. and seems like it would be possible.. but more limited and my depth perception was a bit off... of course I am use to using both eyes... and I am sure you have adapted...

Isn't the procedure for children to apply a patch over the good eye to force the "lazy" eye to align itself?

Maybe with adults the theory is that you can not teach an old eye new tricks?

When I go for my physical, while in the hall I walk up to the eye chart & look at it, remember most of it. then a few min later when the nurse comes out I am ready.
