I bet the way you cook it that you really don't lose much weight at all. Even with slow cooking ours in butter on the skillet we don't seem to lose much. I tend to not get the best chicken an pork. I would really like to try wild forrested pork an see how it is.

But yeah, sometimes I’m too lazy to heat most anything that doesn’t absolutely need it lol.
I’m just using supermarket meat right now, except I get grass fed grass finished ground beef when I’m doing something with that.
On another note, I really want to get into canning and try some of the chili recipes. But I don’t feel like learning new tricks and fine tuning them right now. -
So, I have a rough kinda guess on what I got out of 19lbs of uncooked pork, and roughly a 12lb brisket.
That’s 16 bags of around 10oz each, 160oz of pork, or 10lbs. I ate 2 good helpings and my wife ate a plate before I bagged it. So another 1.5 or so.
So about 7.5 lbs were lost in the cook.
Brisket is 10oz bags too. 7 bags at 70oz, or almost 4.5 lbs. My wife wanted to keep enough brisket out for meals the next couple of days. So I weighed that and it was an additional 2.3lbs, plus we ate some when it came out, so I’ll round that up to 3 lbs.
So about 4.5 lbs lost to the cook.
At any rate, that’s a good 25+ meals I got out $80 worth of meat. And those are pretty filling portions too.Coover Thanks this. -

Inlife is the brand. When I bought it 7-8 years ago on Amazon, it had the best reviews and at a reasonable price (around $100). It’s vacuumed up many an animal since then.
In the interest of keeping this thread as informative as possible, later on I’ll post some tips and tricks on it and the bags I’ve used for anyone that might care. It has a bit of a learning curve for keeping things sealed.Coover Thanks this. -
Last few days have been a deviation into destructive table follies.
Pizza, an ice cream sampling that turned into a competition, and the biggest plate of nachos and fresh salsa I’ve seen in quite some time.
I regret nothing, and also everything.
Time to get back on track. -
Also, I went for a walk this morning. It was probably a guilt motivated walk, but whatever, I walked.
Professor No-Name and Coover Thank this. -
Nothing new to report really. Got down to 246, but was at 250 this morning.
I’ll do real good on my eating for 3 or 4 days, then 1 day of eating a big comfort meal will kinda negate the progress.
Still lookin to find my groove.
Gone through most of my smoked food. Need to fire up the smoker this weekend.truckerman75103, Professor No-Name and Coover Thank this. -
Yeah, keeping fresh veggies and fruit cut up and ready to dive into is much better than canned ravioli every day.
My wife has been keeping fresh veggies and dip handy the last couple weeks. Even the kids have been eating it. Convenience is the name of the game.Coover Thanks this.
