No...it is a vasoconstriction stimulant, aiding in the reduction of headache pain by reducing bloodflow to the dialated ateries causing the pain.

 

I'm waaaay late on this thread. But I'm going to say horse %$## on this line of thinking, and excuses. I am not doubting either of you were told this.....

I've never "failed" a drug test of any kind. Nor have I been hit with the "diluted" BS either.

Typical breakfast for me...prior to a drug test, involves 32-64 oz. of coffee and several Mtn Dew if the test isn't administered before lunch. I drink coffee constantly while awake. And go to bed with a cup, most nights.

And yes, I have been diagnosed with a "serious" caffeine addiction...by 2 Doctors.

I carry 2 large thermos on my truck, and refill them sometimes 3 times a day. If I'm not drinking coffee, i have a bottle of dew open. So as a rule...I have just finished at least a quart of coffee plus Mtn Dew, if I get hauled in from the road to produce a sample.

All of which have produced "clean" test. And trust me when I say...I get tested a lot. Not sure why...but it #### sure appears more than random in my opinion.

 

Hmmm. When I was in the navy, there were people that I knew did drugs. They sort of had friends that would let them know when the navy wanted to screen them. One method they would use was to drink vast amounts of water to dilute the sample. The dilution was thought that they would strip the kidneys of what was being tested, i.e. there was not enough to test positive--even though there may have been traces too miniscule to hit the threshold levels for a positive result. So, this is basically what they are saying when they have a diluted sample.
To avoid this, when you have a "test" to take, mix what you eat and drink so it isn't just water. Hope this helps.

Dilution will cause a inconclusive test witch is not a fail or a pass, depends on the doctor, clinic, or company policy at that point usually buys you a second chance a week away or so.

By the way you can over hydrate causing you heath problems also. Hard drugs or pills hydration may work on but it will not work on THC based issues, Hash Pot Peyote etc.... THC is stored in your blood cells and will cause a positive test for quite some time after ingesting.

Purchasing urine samples offline or other wise creates other problems, because they check temp of the sample, or the other Mr.Pibb you seem to be pregnant.

 

You have not tried having water as your primary intake for the day or days before testing. I have never had a problem with test either, but I do know how water will effect the out come of the test, which general means retest is in there future.

Last I checked being a caffeine addict is not illegal here yet.

Why do you think they are testing urine samples instead of blood? The THC is passed into the urine. By drinking lots of water, urinating, drinking more water, urinating..many times, what was to be found in the sample has been somewhat flushed out, so that when someone goes for the test, the amount is very miniscule.
This is why they reject what they call diluted samples..seems they caught on. This is why they would do it in the navy, and they didn't get popped because the sample was indeed diluted.

THC is stored in your fat cells. That's why it takes so long to get rid of it, especially for the big fellers and gals. An average size person can get rid of all traces of THC in about a month. For our larger kinfolk, it can take up to two or three months, especially if they were a heavy user.

That's why I always suggest, for those who want to stop being a dopehead, rejoin society and get a job truckin', get your own drug test done before you take a DOT test. If your own test comes back with so much as a trace, stay away form it a little longer and try again. Your own test will not show up on any database. I believe there are test kits available at the local drug store. You pee in or on it and send it off. They test it and send your results to you. And it can be anonymous.

I'm just sayin'.

Regarding the OP: I don't think a dilute drug test will hurt hubby, but I would be on the horn to Swift to find out what next....??? Don't let it just slide.

 

Labs do what the call a specific gravity test first. They stick a thermometer looking thing in the sample and gauge how high it floats by the lines. If it fails the predetermined cutoff numbers the test is stopped and the next tests for drugs is not done. Usually they suspect sample tampering. That's why they put dye in the toilets.

Most places request a second sample with a witness watching you the second time.
Drinking alot of plain old water will alter the sample. So if he didn't fudge and dilute the sample, he must of drank alot of water. Diluted samples don't look good.

Trucking companies with all their applicants have the luxury of going on to the next applicant. They won't fool with you or give you a second chance in the beginning.

 

You answered your own question with the very 1st sentence! (Your pretty much a guaranteed clean result.) Trust me when I say that positive tests look just as bad for the carrier as they do for the nit wit who failed the test to the DOT and to insurance carriers...

 

I have to tell you this funny story. My neighbor is a boiler maker and smokes pot. He told me he had a friend piss in a bottle for him and he put it in the glove box of his truck because he was going to a new job. The job was delayed a week and he went for his drug test. He snuck the rank sample in his underware to keep the temperature up. Sample time he poured it in the cup. He then handed it to the nurse.

The nurse was like EWWWWWWWWW! You must have a kidney infection!
He passed.
