It only matters if you pass or fail, not how many tries it takes. The Pre-trip is easy to fail. Nobody but the state knows if you passed on the first try or not. Don't worry about it. Just pass it.

I wouldn't take the test until I could mention every item like a parrot. It's not a discussion or explanation. It's a list of words in order. Memorize the items in bite-size chunks like 5 items as a block. Pick one YouTube video and repeat exactly their list, exactly how they say it, over and over until the words don't even seem like words anymore. It's like memorizing the list of Presidents, you just need to mention the names in order.

yes, when i was an instructor, way too many times, students just got nervous, after boasting that they would "nail" all the testing.

some states, you fail a test, (like in MA) you only have to redo that test, then the road test.

some states, like mine, you fail a test, you get to do ALL of them all over again.

Just keep studying and memorizing things. You’ll pass. I doubt I could rattle off exactly what they want to hear, without studying, even though I do a walk around 2 or 3 times a day, looking at much more than required. Practice a physical routine in your head. Visualizing based on the list. You’ll get it. Pre trip will save your ###, especially when slip seating. A good post trip from previous Driver can’t be relied on. A good post trip on your part may help avoid a problem for the next Driver.

Education isn't something that is done to a student. It's an activity where the teacher and the student PERFORM their tasks.
