I failed my DOT physical because the Doctor was not comfortable with a perscribed drug I have been taking for ten years and that I also use a C-PAP because I snore. I have never failed a DOT physical before and nothing about my health or perscriptions has changed. The Doctor, in my opinion, is being a pr**k. My question is can I now go to a different Doctor who will pass me ? Any thoughs or comments would be greatly appriciated.

    Thank you.

I use a cpap machine and take medication for blood pressure and type 2 diabetes and I got certified. Then again it was done by my PCP who knows my history which does make a difference. OTOH, Swift's doctors at the Phoenix terminal refused to certify me until I got a "DOT" certified CPAP and increased my blood pressure meds to bring my pressure under 120/80. I tested 1 point above hypertension.

It does sound like he is a pr**k. Why didn't you say so in your other thread?

The CPAP you should be okay if you are compliant.

    What are you taking?

They are trying to get the physicals computerized, but at current there is no record communication.
Try going back to the last doctor if possible. If not, find a cheap walkin clinic.

Usually it's 140/90 packrat. They got me down to 110/70 now. I told him any lower and my heart will quit. :)

You DON'T have to go to an MD for yer physical.
Look on the back of your card.
It has a multiple choice of practioners.
MD, nurse, nurses assistant, physicians assistant,
even a chiropractor can give a DOT physical if
they are certified to do so.
I have found that physicians asst. and chiropactors
    are usually pretty lax.
Unless of course you are required to go to their
    company turd fer yer card.

Most walk in clinics have nurse practitioners and aren't that thorough. At least the ones I went to were. I hate chiropractors/DOT qualified and will never go to one again. They tend to put their back practice knowledge into the physical. I know this isn't required, I just want to see if you can do it. :)

Only do what's on the long form at a DOT physical. Some Doc's want to do a prostate check, which isn't on the long form. It's up to you......Same with the duck walk.

maybe you should look into there new rules, I remember reading in the last few months that people with what you described, will be taken out of the truck. this is a new rule for doctor's to look for.

Lot's of local drivers go to a local chiro, she is good and thorough, and doesn't preach the chiropractic gospel. She doesn't like people joking about chiros, though.

She does just what's on the long form. She is also warning some who are too heavy that they won't probably be ablr to get another in 2 years with the rules coming down from above.

An older driver jumped through lots of hoops to keep a medical card, and his young doc disqualified him, he then went elsewhere, and got a 2 year card.
