Failed my road test, what are other options?

    click click click click is wonderful.

    It just making those "GERKS" louder, harder, faster etc. The sooner you work them out like a birdie puking and rmoving poor diet... the better off you will be.

    Dont tell them what you are using it for. I got my CDL in a rented truck.

    Heck yea! Go to Penske and rent one and make up a reason why you need it. I got truck and trailer from there.

    I failed my test at the DMV first go. I actually pulled out of the parking lot and hit the curb, failed immediately and pulled directly back into the parking lots other entrance.

    Yeah it sucked but I also went back a few hours later and passed. I stayed far away from the curbs. haha

    Lol when I took mine I ran up on a curb but it had the crosswalk dip so I got away with it. If I had a sleeper I would have failed!

    Dude, some of the things I'm going to say have already been said but I think it's important enough to reiterate.

    Do NOT test out in an automatic. DMV will restrict your CDL. Automatics are probably the future among company trucks but mastering a 13 or even an 18 speed is a good skill to have for overall job prospects.Once you do that, 10 speeds will be cake.

    Only A-Hole examiners will fail a student for grinding - unless it's excessive and on every shift. These are newbies who are already stressed out enough. They're going to bump or grind a little.

    Tachs are important. It teaches you to match rpm to a certain sound. The KEY is to practice this somewhere safe and away from traffic. With time, you'll learn to identify certain sounds and know instantly what the rpm is.

    Practice on the truck you'll be testing on. Know how that mofo behaves like it was your own.



    And now for some input which may seem weird but they can help:

    Wear shoes with a thinner sole. This will give you a better feel for the clutch.As long as you're wearing reasonable closed-toe shoes, the examiner shouldn't care. Save the thick-soled boots for when you get your cdl.

    Chew gum. Seriously. I don't know what it is about the act of chewing gum, it somehow gets your rhythm down. Every newbie I gave this advice to tells me it helps. And it sure doesn't hurt to talk to your examiner with minty fresh breath. Just don't chomp obnoxiously and be sure to offer him or her a few sticks.

    Point of clarification. You get paid $500 per week during class training, first check on Thursday of third week. Then you get $90 per day when in the truck with trainer for up to 15 days. Then you get driver pay once you have been assigned a truck.

    He stated he was going to get a friend with a CDL to help rent the truck.
