I'm very certain PSP scores will affect insurance rates. Insurance is already outrageously expensive. Please don't volunteer for more problems. The violations don't need agreement from the driver & nobody's insurance rate will be left unchanged if the driver/owner disagrees with the Fed's evaluation of the seriousness of the violation.please don't be tempted to be stubborn AND in violation. It only hurts you.

I meant not changing whatever law there is.
The seat belts don't bother me for the most part. Sometimes it is normal, if not necessary not to wear them for a moment or two. Wearing flip flops while driving is more dangerous than not wearing seat belts. What's the danger anyway? I am going to fall off the seat on a bump or something?

Please give examples of when it is necessary to not wear a seat belt while driving.

The seat belt thing could potentially hurt you depending on who you try to drive for. I've gotta buddy who got turned down by Tyson and Dollar General because of a seat belt violation. It's not impossible to find work, but the cell phone and seat belt violations are not ones you want to have. Carriers are so picky now, so something that doesn't seem like a big deal, like seat belt, it is now. There's less room for error than ever.

Your sarcasm is ill-placed here because public safety does depend on it. How many fatalities have occurred in accident that may not have occurred if they had worn a seat belt? It's such a bad blemish to get because it's such a simple thing to avoid.

Well how many people got ejected through the windshield or received terrible whip lash because of not wearing a seat belt? It's really empty calorie dialogue.

Wearing the seat belt is the law. Consider it, like a drug test, an IQ test. Wearing the seat belt doesn't mean your IQ is high. But, not wearing it when you know the penalty is high is beyond pig-ignorant.

There is no downside for wearing the seatbelt. You are not asked to be an equal partner in the regulation-making process. You can imagine the reason for the regulation is any reason you like, or no reason, or revenue generation. All that is measured is do you comply or not. The FMCSA regs are not a college seminar, they are the rules. Discipline is internal or external. If knowing rules exist isn't a good enough reason to follow them, then giving away your money or making your life harder for no reason should be reason enough to help yourself out. NOT EVERY ISSUE is a request for everyone to feel like a martyr saving humanity for a grand principle.

Falling out of the seat is terribly dangerous in any vehicle, especially one that could be 70 feet long & 80k pounds and within a foot of other vehicles.

Seatbelt isn't necessary for FMCSA purposes on private property. An employer may have more strict rules than the FMCSA. With more trucks having driver cams it sure would feel dumb to lose a job when a driver knows he is on video.
