I agree with some of that but it still doesn't hold water entirely as they've forced the states to pass laws as well. My personal vehicle is not a federally regulated industry.

We’re talking about cars? I thought we were talking about someone getting a violation in a truck.

Last I checked nobody is belting you into either type of vehicle. Just don’t cry if you get a ticket. And for cars, many states a seatbelt isn’t a primary offense. They have to pull you over for something else.

Deregulation was meant to benefit customers. It did that. It wasn't meant to spread pre-regulation rules to the whole industry, along with union wages, union work rules, etc. Driver's volunteered to enter the industry after 1980 & have been complaining about everything before & since.

You are only required to comply when you put your vehicle on public roads. Drive on private property while you read Ayn Rand books.

The subject about belts in general was previously broached and it's overreach...period. Government making my health decisions is the death of freedom and liberty.

Primary vs secondary has disappeared in the last four states I've lived in but frankly it shouldn't matter at all because it shouldn't be a law.

I agree about whining about conditions one agrees to. It's one of the reasons I'm leaving the industry gradually. Too much government in my personal life.

As far as "nobody is belting you into either type of vehicle" is bunk. Not everyone lives in a city with public transportation. People shouldn't have to lose their rights to put food on their table, see medical professionals or anything else that's typically found in a city.

Spending time in prison for manslaughter is worse than a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt so don't worry about not wearing your seatbelt while driving, falling out of the seat on a curve and running over other motorists which gives you a manslaughter prison sentence.

I'm on the payroll of Big Physics, not Big Govt. I also don't pretend, despite a life of contrary evidence, the rules don't apply to me because I prefer to daydream about Utopia.

Mandatory seatbelt laws are my fault. No, really. They are.

Right. Because driving too fast for conditions was the real cause. Not the seat belt or lack there of.

The Feds don't require you drive on public roads. If you use public roads you are required to obey public laws & regulations.
