Then you’re unfamiliar with the kind of training our troopers go through here in Washington state. And apparently it was necessary to get this driver’s attention. So much for checking his mirrors regularly.

Sorry, but no amount of training will help if that Ford pickup had hit his breaks.

    All I see is idiots...
Same guys that "can't get over" and blow by inches away from anyone unlucky enough to be on the side of the road.
Same guys that stay on the throttle when meeting oncoming oversize loads and farm machinery that have to take up the better part of the road.
    Fine em double...

And why would the Ford hit his brakes?

Does it matter why? Who knows, a wreck could have happened in front of him leaving the cop with no way out.
Heck, a dog could have run across the road for that matter.
Point is, physics doesn't matter how good one is. There is a reason tailgating is illegal.

lmfao, obviously wasnt an emergency now was it if he pulled truck over for so long. If it was a police emergency, soon as the truck yeilded , no matter how long it took, the cop would have went on to the real emergency. A failure to yeild is not a matter of life or death. So what part do you not understand.
To add, trucker is an idiot yes of course but that doesnt have anything to do with a real emergency.
Cop was bored, going to another cops call that was under control. This cop was angry and on a power trip which was way more important to his "emergency" call

    7-UP and PoleCrusher Thank this.

The reason the trooper switched his focus was because the original call he was responding to had ended (scanner chatter, “one in custody”), his focus could shift to the failure to yield situation.

The trooper was fully aware of what was happening in front of him.

Speeding is also illegal. Perhaps LEOs should only be allowed to go the posted speed limit in an emergency? After all, speeding can be dangerous, too.

How about we leave the LEOs to their training, since we haven’t gone through it ourselves, shall we? Or is there more to this?

There is no training that will render cops immune to the laws of physics. Putting himself in the trucks biggest blind spot is just stupid, and no, he wasn't fully aware of what was happening in front of him because he was in a position where he couldn't see what was happening in front of him.

    PoleCrusher Thanks this.
