I was once upon a time in the employ of a company unrelated to trucking (thrid-party building inspection) that was the envy of the industry. They started many of these same tactics, ie, cuts in benefits, cut in the amount of times we washed our trucks, lost our tolltags and had to pay out of our own pockets, etc. They even issued every employee an employee handbook (something that previously would have been laughable) that was 2 inches thick with all new rules and regulations for employees. Same thing happened there as well, they were doing it little by little each week.
I eventually left after about 60 days of this of my own accord when I got a better offer with another company. Just a week or two after I left, the company I worked for making all these changes was bought out by an international mega-conglomerate. The guys still there after the merger went from driving fully loaded up Ford Quad Cab Trucks w/leather and power everything to driving a Ford Focus econo-box. That was just the most visible sign, there were many more changes that were more subtle, but still impacted the guys in the field generating the revenue.
The whole process of change before the merger was just a streamlining process to make the company appear to be more cost-efficient, and more in-line with the mega-company's business plan. I don't work for TMC, though I may one day, but to me this is what a company does to make itself more appealing and ready for a merger/buyout. The things I keep hearing from TMC drivers sound exactly what I experienced just before the company I was with was bought out.

lol # this is the same company that 3 months ago was sending out very stern qualcomm messages about meeting with management if you didn't wash your truck every week.
someone in Des Moines is hiding a hell of a secret. -
#### Boogdaddy, you make a valid point...I figured we are saving so much money now with all the recent cuts and changes that TMC should be able to buyout some other companies....lol...not funny I guess...really not funny...

a truck doesn't make a company. sure I drive a beautiful 2007 Peterbilt. it's slow as hell and I can't really make any money with it. -
there isn't a truck wash # the Petro anymore? u have to be able to wash your trailers out to reload w/o the smell of blood and fish.
-
I dont work for TMC. And I never will. Skateboarding aint for me. But I have been at the Petro in Monee IL since late Saturday night and there is a TMC driver in here that says he has been in here since Thursday waiting on a load out. I mean to wait 5 days for a load seems a little to much. I dont know if he is blowing smoke or not. Thats a long time to wait.
