With the regulations we face today, you first make your best effort to drive it legal and log it like you drove it.
If you fail at this then it should only be by a little and you should be able to make it go away. With the need to protect our means of making a living, I can't understand where CYA doesn't apply to every thing we do everyday.
Only an idealistic person who is perfect and lives in a perfect world would suggest that you document illegal activities. Since there are no perfect humans and we live in a far from perfect world this person's theories would never apply.
Falisfy or log a violation?

Maybe it's time you keep your politicals out of our faces.
As you can see I covered you in my last paragraph.Diesel Dave, mtnMoma, misterG and 10 others Thank this. -
Though I agree with the premise making a few minutes disappear here and there ranks right up there with driving a few miles an hour over the speed limit. Passing a cop and giving him the finger while doing it is akin to bringing attention to the fact you were 15 minutes over on your 11.
Many think that way at some point but change their opinion when hope gets smacked by reality. -
I live in a perfect world and personally I'd rather see y'all just log it as you did it. will violations continue to happen, probably. I can live with them if they are few and far between. I'm thinking the DOT could care less, if you logged the violation you get the appropriate punishment as perscribed by the FMCSR. Maybe everything needs to be looser, I don't know. just wanted to see what folks thought.

I'll tell you what my lawyer told me one time about talking to the cops. Never admit anything.
Elvenhome21 and misc Thank this. -

"here's my log officer. You see there is a violation right there. I could have fudged it a bit and covered it but I didn't. I'm sure my fine will be reduced to a warning based on my honesty."
Uh, welcome to the real world my friend. Here's your sign...err...fineblktop-bucanear Thanks this. -
Was watching COPS last night. A woman had bought crack from a dealer inside a house... he hit her. for whatever reason, and she also knew that he had beaten on a female friend of hers. So, she calls 911, and right after buying more crack, offered up the crack to cops (as evidence that the guy was selling), he had hit her again... and reported the incident as a good citizen.
They responded on the house, arresting the guy for possession with intent to sell, and two counts of assault.
Then they arrested her for posession. She freaked. Buy WHY??!! Umm... ma'am, because you bought and possessed crack?? Do you realize you could have reported the assault and sale WITHOUT buying MORE CRACK... and showing the nice officers what you had bought? -
I've seen that episode, it's one of my favorites.

I was doing reports, and find that reruns of COPS in the background is the only thing that doesn't distract me.
I shouldn't have hijacked this, this is a serious thread.
