Was recently stopped a little past the scales on i90 east out of Seattle. Got hit with a false log violation. Wasn’t speeding or anything. Officer didn’t have a reason to stop me. Not sure why he did. I’m a owner operator running my own #s and only 1 truck. How will this affect my csa score and insurance (progressive). Will this cause me to get red lighted more often now going thru scales. Anything that I can do to help offset the impact?
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

DOT does not need a reason to stop a CMV. If you were put out of service, that will really screw up you score with only one truck. You might find it hard to get loads.
To help that you are going to need more passing inspections.misterG and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Yeah he placed me out of service. Not too worried about getting loads. I haul cars and maybe only once has a broker mentioned checking my csa score. What about my insurance, Will it increase? Also I have a couple prior inspections with no violations. Any info on if I’m more likely to get red lighted going thru scales now vs before the violation?

Insurance I don't know for sure, I would guess they might look at that, but again I don't know for sure. Getting pulled in to scales would depend if you go over or close to the national average score. Don't get discouraged, just keep trucking legally to bring score down. If you don't have prepass I would strongly recommend it, but then I don't know how that works hauling cars. I know with prepass if you are oversized or hazmat you still have to stop at scales even with a green light on prepass. Also in Florida you must stop at agriculture inspection even with prepass, unless you get aprovale from Florida. I just got approved from Florida this week.

OOS goes onto a Motor Carrier Record by DOT MC Number. Anyone doing research for your particular trucking company will now be able to find at least one OOS listed among the violations etc. The really important thing without saying is staying put until your penalty OOS is timed out before moving.

I did a quick pick up in Seattle yesterday. Was my only pick up and stayed parked at the auction in Kent for the rest of the time, logged off duty all yesterday. Scales where closed so figured I was good to go. Didn’t have time to make stuff look right once he got behind me

You’ll be alright. Don’t worry about it. Just stop in every now and then when Youre headed home from your trip and get a level 1 inspection ( if your truck is ready for 1) and it’ll help you.
Also the reason you got stopped is because you’re a car hauler they catch a lot of cars with drugs and Other illegal things in the cars being traileredThe_Great_Corn Thanks this.
