MBM Columbus, Ohio was chalk full of rental tractors and a weathered trailer fleet.

It was actually more common to see a rental tractor then an actual tractor with MBM markings.

I have to laugh all the times on I-71 I would see a white trailer 3 doors on the side and a lift gate on the back all old looking and well weathered the tractor usually a white day cab and ha-ha duct taped to the door an 8.5x11 piece of paper and hand written on it in marker:

    MEADOWBROOK MEAT CORPORATION
    ROCKY MOUNT, NORTH CAROLINA
    US DOT 12345678910

Or just RYDER TRUCK RENTAL and LEASING

MBM was a fun outfit to watch one of my favorites. They always had ads up on another forum MBM Columbus, Ohio NOW HIRING DRIVERS! Be Home on Weekends! That was just a couple of years ago, my how time changes and things change fast.

I guess that's true never really thought about it before, but they probably didn't really venture into the northeast.

I used to see MBM trucks on the Masspike pretty frequently. Somehow, they always looked lost. Pretty easy to spot since they said "ROCKY MOUNT NC" in huge letters on the sides.

Now I know where mfs fleet trucks came from. I wondered where they popped up from all of the sudden.

Ran out of Aberdeen Maryland with MBM Equipment and loads to 4 particular red lobsters in Jersey and Connecticut each weekend. Pretty high value loads as far as it is out of there. Tractor was mine from FFE we were dedicated to that type of work. The biggest problem was getting that full on OTR tractor into the teeny tiny parking lots with those MBM trailers. It did well all around, paid well too. We knew the Aberdeen facility as Darden, I think they were bought out years ago. So it was a mix of owners. Only thing that was bad was fending off the thieves who think they can grab a case of Lobster at market rate. Out. With a knot or two.

We have a pretty good Red Lobster down here in Lakewood north of north Little rock off 67 and McCain. About time I think for a meal.

I know where that warehouse is, I stayed at a hotel across the street from it. I know MBM had sleeper cab trucks on team accounts. Lots of day cabs as well.

Was MBM short on drivers so they had called in subs from another company?

Ya know.. its a warehouse with trailer yard in the end of a culdesac, you have to work a little bit to get into that one. If you stayed at a hotel nearby I believe I can still recall it in memory. Small world.

I have no knowledge of Darden's problems with labor. I was running OTR with FFE one fine day when a beautiful text message came over the QC with a dedicated offer paying net close to a thousand plus a week and so forth. I took the bait gave them a try. It worked out well for a while And feel lucky to still have my fingers intact considering what goes into unloading at a red lobster with their racks and ramps. I went back into FFE OTR system and eventually was promoted to trainer for spouse and went into full team then, things really took off then. Especially with McKesson work which is way bigger in cargo values than any old case of lobster.

    Hey ya'all,

I worked in the MBM headquarters in Rocky Mount servicing 172 vendors every morning to make sure that all of the Purchase Orders to procure the food were sent correctly from our computers.

In the afternoons and sometimes evening and weekends I processed and corrected the orders from Darden, Hardee's and Chick-fil-A among a multitude of other accounts. Yes McD's and Burger King both purchased from MBM. There were 80 plus warehouse locations throughout the USA and Canada.

Another one of my responsibilities was to twice a year to monitor and correct driver's pay records for daylight savings time changes. That's when I wished we were only in Arizona where there is no change over.

I alway enjoyed meeting our driver's who made it out to NC...and seeing our trucks on the road. I wish you all safe travels!

    You don’t say?

Rocky Mount presumably NC is sure a long way from where you’re posting from.
