Hopper I pull is a 43' Wilson high side. We occasionally spot trailers in fields during corn harvest. That trailer can get you in trouble real fast when the farmer decides to try to fill it.
I am parked at an elevator in Presser, NE. Going to unload a bunch of equipment for a leg in the morning.

Pulling by products from the driers around here i see mostly wilson and timpte trailers with 78 inch sides. I see alot of other trailers advertised like jett and cornhusker do they make one that I could get a broker to load? I am not wanting to run for one broker exclusively i thought i would try the boards first, and alot of loads going out are posted for short, regular, or high sides, but most coming back are high side only.

We used to run hoppers otr but the issue was getting a load back home to MN. The other issue was having that time stamp from the scales all the time.
There was good money in it but you had to run really hard to get it. -
Thats what I have been told and plan on, course I realize that this is the busiest time of year and rates are good. From what i can tell there is a-lot of loads out of AR to surrounding states mostly Texas. It seems to be easy to reload within a 150 miles or so go east to LA or Miss then catch a load within 100 mile or so home. I think there will be more empty miles than that and not be able to reload as fast as I been told, but I still have a knot in my side to try it lol. from what I can tell on rates if you figure the ton rate and convert it to by mile they all offer 2.27 first offer and usually come up to 2.50 or 60 fairly easy. Do you think a guy could make it on that with any luck?
-
You could make it on that I would think.
I never personally ran the hopper otr. I know when we ran it there was alot more products other then grain. Fish meal, crushed glass, bone meal etc....
The trailer I pull now is the trailer we used to run otr. It has a vibrator on it i'm not sure if thats absolutely necessary but I think its supposed to help alot. All I ever haul is corn, beans, and fertilizer. -
They say some of the by products will compact and stick really hard to unload. I'm hoping to do like a friend of mine he got to know a few people always treated them right and now he only goes a couple diff places all unloads and pays good. Hopefully after I do it a while and find a run I like I can get in like that. Not really a dedicated but he does it every week. Gotta find a wagon first 1300 a month for a new one is more than I can do
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
