Fast and/or proper way to check brakes during pre-trip?

    Get those slack adjusters that have the arrow on them. One quick look and you'll know instantly. They were similar to the Brake Safe idea mentioned above.

    That 90 degree rule is good if you know for sure someone didn't cut the pushrod too long or too short when they replaced the chamber(s).




    Auto slack adjusters are designed to maintain a 90 degree pushrod to slack adjuster angle. If the rod was cut too short, there will be too much stroke. If its cut too long, it could cause insufficient stroke.
