Don't have a FAST card, is a passport just as good? or what difference is there?

yes its just as good, the fast card just makes the border crossing process slightly faster.

Depends on what you're doing. Some companies will require you to have a FAST card.

I think all the garbage haulers who take the stuff from Toronto to a landfill in Michigan require it for example. I'm sure it saves them a lot of time with the way the Blue Water can get backed up.

Personally I've only needed it once. I picked up a load in the U.S. coming back to Canada where the shipper would only deal with a company and driver who were FAST certified.

It can't hurt to have it but I honestly don't know how necessary it is. I know some carriers list it as a requirement but I don't think most do. I'm sure others can give better info.

    - If I have a FAST card, does it completely replace a passport?
