Yes, it is a sarcastic comment, but sometimes you think the bills will never end.

But if i have 7 figures there want be any bills? I will owe truck and trailer. My own authority. The price of permits/insurance will be insufficient to the amount of money i make. The only way you can go from 7 figures to 6 is if you take out a loan for 7 figures at like 20-30% interest and run the business with -$1,000,000 of debt lol. There are plenty of o/o running there business off loans

OK - It was a tongue in cheek sarcasm. I fully understand the math. It was a joke, an old one in the trucking industry. It was put out there to give new guys an idea that it is difficult to make money as an O/O and we don't all drive an $80K car and have 2nd homes in Aspen.

What is the secret to "making money" as an O/O? Making money is subjective depending on who you ask. One person is content with $500 a week while another needs two grand. So let's go with a thousand a week clear profit. Assuming you own a reefer or dry van and are leased on to a company.

When it doesn't take much to push a repair bill into 4 or 5 digits, losing money in this industry is easier than you think. Need a tow? You're looking at a couple hundred bucks PER HOUR from the time the truck leaves their shop until it gets back to their shop. Tow bills in the 4-figure range aren't unheard of, and if you have a wreck, it can easily reach into 5-figure territory.

Stuff is expensive in this game. If your truck is anything less than reliable, you won't be on the road enough to make the money you need to pay those tow & repair bills. When that happens, you dip into your savings trying to get your truck back on the road HOPING to make it back before the next breakdown. Sometimes you do...but not always.

That's how 7-figures becomes 6-figures. It is easier than you think. Much easier to LOSE money at this game than it is to MAKE money. Sure, you can crunch the numbers and show potential all day long, but if you buy a truck that is less than reliable, it'll sink you pretty quick.
