lol of course they all suck.. I already dodged plenty of please buy our truck "for us" deals. What I was thinking is to lease a truck onto a company because I call progressive and they will only insure me if it's with 500mile radius of where i'm working. Everyone else wants 2 years exp to insure my truck so i figured i need to lease on to a company.

Working on it. I have about $7,000 saved up in cash. I don't know if i should do a down payment on like a $30-40k truck or keep saving to $15,000 for pre 2000's truck

Ashley furniture LTL will do 70-90k+ a year.

I know those numbers are legit I've seen them from those guys...almost every one of them.....but they earn it

Hell I run truckload and will do 73k this year.

    We're home every weekend.

Ok...I wasn't sure if I read your last post correct or not. Patience and cash reserves are king in the world of owning and operating a truck. Keep working, keep saving. You'll probably find that getting a loan is tough as well, even with a down payment. Maybe you've already tried?

There are lease purchases out there that are workable and profitable, just very few. You have time on your side. While your still driving someone else's truck, keep saving. Save every penny you can, it will come in handy.

Use your time researching what you want to do as an owner operator...flat, van, tank, etc. Then you can start looking at companies and exploring options. 100% O/O are by far the best imo. Schneider has a very good system with their Choice lease. Others are starting to copy that, so options are opening up. Patience is key. Cash reserves are key.

We aren't Union and never will be. It's a good gig with outstanding benefits, equipment and perks and no micromanagement. They leave us alone to do what we do.

You don't have to go your own truck route or put up with union bs to make good money and get home.

I bought my truck thur Knight, and I am leased on with them as a O/O. Depending on your terminal and your situation your mileage here will very. I get home weekly sometimes multiple times a week, I get the miles that I need and I do decent for running exclusively the Northwest with a reefer.

You have to find what fits you and works for you.

    Edit.
I'll also point out I used to get home often as a company driver with them also, Normally out 10 to 14 days then home 3-4 days depending on how much time I wanted. If your having trouble getting home or having issues with hometime it sounds like its time to switch terminals or area's. Alot of ones experience at Knight is based ALOT on the terminal they are out of, we have some real crappy arse terminals here and we also have some really awesome ones that give a crap about the driver.
