    Thank you sir.

However, you do realize that would be a lot less work if you simply added to your sig line, right?:)

    Hi Mack E-6,

    How are you?

I have tried adding it to my signature, however, I do not have enough space, with my other signature and photo combined. My other signature is "Health, freedom, & privacy - 3 priceless treasures: All 3 go hand in hand". I could remove the photo to include a 2nd. signature.

    NOTE:
My signature, "Health, freedom, & privacy - 3 priceless treasures: All 3 go hand in hand" is a phrase that I received from a police officer working for the Wichita Police Department in Wichita KS. This particular police officer also served on active duty in the military.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    Shaggy Thanks this.

The Govt and the powers that be can't come straight out and say " you're fat, so the rules are different for you"
no, because as we know, that's discrimination, but they'd love to tell you if they could.
Instead they have to dance around the bushes and attack overweight people in a more subtle way.
The latest flavor that's arrived on the horizon is sleep apnea, and it's testing.
of course as I've said many times, it's OK for 4-wheelers to do anything they want, but for truck drivers, we have to waltz to a different tune.
So in a way, it is discrimination. I've noticed there are plenty of overweight congressmen and Senators,
maybe we should demand that they set an example and lose the weight first.
    What's good for the goose...........
    Wishful thinking though.

The DOT physical long form has a block for the BMI entry.
I'm fit, not very fat, but at 6'2" and 250 I'd have to lose about 40 pounds to get out of the "obese" category BUT I would still be "overweight."
And that is according to the dot gov BMI calculator on the National Institutes of Health web site.
    It's idiotic.
Muscle weighs more than fat. I could stop eating, stop exercising, and lose weight and I'd be weak and sick, but at least I wouldn't be OBESE according to the BMI.

My guess is that the insurance companies benefit from having such low thresholds for being overweight and obese. With that they can deny claims and coverage. Also, the companies that get rich off of their weight loss schemes, diets, etc., stand to gain by people being told they're OBESE. I'm not defending truly fat and out-of-shape people who never met a doughnut or two-liter soda they didn't love. Just sayin'...

There are plenty of 4-wheelers that are "accidents waiting to happen". Many years ago, my home state of CT, had cases of people who were extremely visually impaired driving their cars, being "grave" risks to others and themselves. FORTUNATELY, this has long since been corrected.

To my knowledge, Kansas, the state that I currently live in, allows people with 1 eye to have their drivers licenses. To my knowledge, there are other states that require an individual to have vision in both of their eyes. A person with vision in only 1 eye has much more difficulty with depth perception.

I believe that a deaf person can have a license to drive in all 50 states, not totally sure about this.

When my mother had her 4th. major open heart surgery back in 2005, (2nd. quadruple bypass), at the age of 84, the hospital put in her medical records that she could no longer drive. This saved my 2 sisters and I the task of having to keep her from getting behind the wheel of her car. Our mother was also in the developmental stages of dementia. SADLY and UNFORTUNATELY, she passed away 2 years later, (5/31/1921 - 9/30/2007), age 86.

There are many people, of all age groups, who should NOT be driving at all due to impaired vision, impaired coordination / reflexes, and "motor" skills, impaired judgement due to Alzheimer's disease or dementia, and a host of extremely serious physical illnesses that can seriously impair ones capability to drive safely.

The problem is that society is set up in a way to prevent people from getting around to take of their even most basic needs, due to many places being too far away from normal walking distance. Also, mass transit in many cities and towns is an absolute failure, which prevents people from being able to commute to their jobs along with other things as shopping for groceries.

It is true that 4-wheelers need much more accountability on the streets and highways of America.
While truck driving is an extremely responsible job, we really cannot put all the accountability and responsibility on the truck drivers. It must be shared by all motorists. Putting all the accountability and responsibility on the truck drivers is not only unfair to them, but outright DISRESPECTFUL to them. It also breeds an arrogance among some 4-wheelers who flat out do NOT care or give a darn.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    Shaggy Thanks this.

the latest issue of landline magazine states that although recommendations have been made there is no regulation on bmi or sleep apnea.
the article says no where in the regulations is weight or neck size mentioned.
it says if you have no history of sleep apnea you do not have to participate in a sleep study and purchase expensive equipment.
if you want to work for a large training company that is part of the american trucking assn the above probably does not apply to you.
many of the non ata companies are probably not interested in hiring morbidly obese drivers so drink water and eat low carb and walk 20 minutes a day anyway
