I expect the concern over BMI at Prime has a lot less to do with any new-found altruism and a lot more to do with insurance.

When they disqualify most of their applicants and they dont have enough left that are stupid enough to fall for their fleece plan, are the insurance agents going to run the trucks for them?

Actually what I'm banking on is a new guidance technology that would allow one driver to control up to 5 rigs behind him.....

    Even with one drone rig....An O/O could do quite well.....Two rigs....Two loads...Two checks....One driver....Makes perfect sense to me....:biggrin_25525:

You are right if you cant do the job then you should not be there. As for the 400 lb guy. He might not be able to do a lot of things. But that dont mean I should be put in the same group as him. It is like smoking you might be able to do it till you are 100 but someone else might die at 47. Does that mean you should be put in the same group as him and you show no signs of being sick. No it effects people in different ways. That is where the discrimination comes in.

The railroads are already trying that. They are using remote controlled engines now. I guess they arent the safest things in the world.

I love that pic ^^^^ lol.

I agree that there need to be standards for driver fitness but I think they should base it more on ability then size. If your body can do 'W', 'X' and 'Y' with out your BP going over 'Z', then your good to go.

Most people will never be fit according to a BMI chart. I may be 270lbs now but I am consistently seeing people that look in shape that can't keep up with me at all sorts of physical activities. I smoke past people in my bike all the time who are "in shape".

My favorite was a woman on a sweet carbon fiber road bike wearing a full kit with clipless pedals. She maybe weighed 125lbs. I smoked past her on my mountain bike in shorts and a tee shirt and my old worn out New Balance shoes. I laughed hard when she yelled WTF as I passed her.

I hear you about not knowing how to cook and the perception you don't have time and the higher cost of prepared and/or convenience food. However there are many free (internet and library) and cheap (discount aisle of bookstore) resources that can help you throw together easy meals. I like simple. And while I do enjoy cooking, I often am short on time as I work 12-14 hr days so things that can be thrown together quickly appeal to me. There is a book called "A man, a can, a plan". It is not a gourmet cookbook nor are the instructions tedius. It is basically throw this can of veggies in with this pasta and this meat with seasoning let it heat up and serve. Usually 3-4 ingredients almost no preparation involved and meals can usually be made for around $2-3 per serving and involve about 2 minutes of combine time followed by 20 minutes of heat up time. If salt content is an issue you can always rinse the canned items off before combining. I also have a couple of cookbooks that revolve around 3-5 ingredient slow cooker recipes. Again very easy, very quick and healthier and more affordable than prepared convenience food.

My aim with these posts is to offer helpful suggestions to others concerned with health who are on a budget and have a shortage of time. Use that google search box to find free cooking recipes, go to your free local library, peruse the discount table at the bookstore (I picked up 3 books that were $1-$3 a piece). A little self education can save you thousands of dollars over the course of a year as well as help you drop some pounds and BP and cholesterol numbers. Good luck, many of us are waging the same wars.
