Sure looks like it from the pictures... Wonder if the driver was parked on the on / off ramp? out of hours? I'm sure they will find a way to blame the Driver.

I've parked on ramps "mostly always on ramps" before Hmmm Perhaps I should have placed my triangles behind the truck.. would that make it legal? food for thought here :biggrin_25524: gotta wonder how this happened on the shoulder.

Metro Police have identified the woman killed in Saturday's I-40 East near Bellevue crash.

Police say Linda Gorrell, 49, of Old Hickory Boulevard was killed when, for unknown reasons, her Jeep Grand Cherokee slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer rig parked on the shoulder of the interstate.

The crash happened just before 4:30 Saturday afternoon.

Gorrell was extricated from the vehicle, but died at the scene.

Police say there was no visible evidence of drugs or alcohol involvement in the crash.

I can see the driver stopped looking at a map at 4:30 PM, but not out of hours on a Saturday on the ramp.

No, not joking about death. My comment was directed at the investigators stating the blatantly obvious, and the brain dead media which probably asked a stupid question to prompt such a response from the investigators.

i am VERY sorry the woman lost her life...and feel for her loved ones left behind...and no, the driver shouldnt have been parked on the shoulder.....but WHY was she driving on the shoulder to begin with?????????????? what if the truck driver had been broke down??? i fail to see how when someone cant maintain their lane or driving on the shoulder makes it the truck drivers fault....it could have been anything a cop, an ambulance, construction vehicle etc.....but no....the company will get taken to the cleaners as will the truck driver cuz the woman ddint know how to drive..(unless she suffered a medical emergency and it couldnt be helped)

a few weeks a ago the TN trooper got hit by a semi while he was parked on the shoulder.....who got blamed???? the truck driver....which i agree with.....now tho because a truck driver was on the shoulder...whos gonna get blamed???? the truck driver still even tho the WOMAN HIT HIM.......

seems the women in the SUV crossed 3 lanes of traffic and impacted the back of the trailer, according to witnesses. Still no official cause.

Could it be "Suicide By Truck"?

The eyewitnesses saying she went like that makes it almost sound deliberate, or she had a grave medical emergency and just lost control.
