Hello, I'm new to this forum,

I have a 1997 Volvo Highway tractor semi with a VE D12 425 motor. Engine shuts down when engine temp reaches 180F although the truck is not actually overheating. Check engine light comes on first. Diagnostic code indicates faulty coolant temp sensor. I have replaced the sensor and still same results.... Any help would be appreciated thanks,

Check the wires and terminals going to the sensor for damage or corrosion.

Diagnostic code should say either coolant input sensor low or high. High indicates that sensor might be bad.

really early Volvo ECU got no engine protection and there was engine protection unit with relay that disabled engine when you pull over. It is like relay unit on early WG and Volvo F12 with 123 engine. it is black box with wires and relay
