Also think the hand warmers might come in "handy".

A cold weather sleeping bag comes to mind. Sleeping bags come in temperature ratings.

    Satellite,

I am thinking a sleeping bag will be on top of my list since I will be teaming. Is there one particular type you would recommend? I suppose it would be personal preference, but I am just looking for something warm and comfortable to start out with. Preferably good quality at a reasonable price.

I bought a summer bag at Walmart. If you are teaming, there is not much need for anything heavier.

Good. The one I have already is from Target. I am hoping one of these days to maybe get a down sleeping bag as I am partial to my down comforter at home. Light weight yet warm.

LL Bean has the best clothing/boot warranty on planet earth. Last year I sent back an 10 year old pair of Bean boots that had begun to fall apart. LL Beans warranty is for life, no excuses, they will replace your boots for free.

I carry 2 sleeping bags. One to sleep under, and 1 for emergencies. At least 1 extra pair of winter boots, and several pair of wool socks. A bag of those hand warmer thingys. A good pair of mittens, and I always have extra pairs of work gloves. Somewhere in my winter gear is a pair of long johns still in the wrapper, keep them around for the "just in case" moments.

I tend to keep more fuel in my tanks during the winter for extended idling, and if I ever get stranded on the road I want to be able to let the truck idle for days if necessary.
