I have two reefer trailers. The one I pull is a 2003 Great Dane Super Seal with a Thermoking SB190. The Great Dane is a sturdy, albeit heavier trailer. It has a sturdier floor than its competition and thicker isulation on the doors. The Thermoking unit has been very dependable over the last two years I have owned it. I had a temperature sensor go out on it when I first bought it $100 and a glow plug about six months later $250. Those are the only repairs Ive had done. I get it pm serviced once a year as well. My other reefer is a 2002 Utility 3000x it is about 1000 lbs lighter than the Great Dane which means it can carry heavier loads. The doors are flimsy compared to the GD but it gets the job done. The reefer unit on it is a Thermo King SB200 whisper. It has not had any issues in the 8 months it has been on the road. I wish my truck was as dependable as these reefer units! Carrier also makes a decent reefer as well. I dont like the doors on the carrier unit they always want to pop open because the mechanism is cheap but the operation of the unit itself is good. The other trailer manufacturer of trailers is Wabash they are on par with Utility. They are both cheaper and lighter trailers which is both an advantage and disadvantage. Reefer rates seem to run about 10 cents more per mile than dry van. I have run consistant mileage all year while dry vans and flatbeds have been idle. Hope this helps.

I ask as each person has their favorite. Winchestor, I notice you have a spread axle; can you educate me about me the advantages and disadvantages of a spread axle configured trailer.

Sure. But to save me some typing, I'll just link you to the thread we just did on this not long ago.
