I just had hamburger steak, mashed taters, gravy, grilled onions, cole slaw, beets, lots of coffee, and a slice o pie. At a maw and paw. I eat here quite a bit.:biggrin_25520:

Usually when I eat at a truck strop it's a matter of what is safest. For breakfast that's usually an omelet and either for lunch or dinner it would be a burger. Not too much can go wrong there. I eat out of my truck 90% of the time.

A lot of the places you all are mentioning are not actually truck stops but places with large parking places or a truck stop nearby. I've ate at some good places like that but can't remember off hand. The Sunday morning buffet at Jubitz in Portland was the best truck stop buffet I've had though it was kind of pricy.

Well that sounds good what you had. I have been to some of those maw and pop places that are tasty.

But I'm not on this worship the maw and paw truck stops bandwagon. They're just as hit and miss as any other truck stops as far as I'm concerned. I've been to some of those maw and paw places where I ended up on my hands and knees in the dog house barfing into Walmart bag. Just venting. It's not directed at you.

How bout "R" PLACE, at the ambest I-80, exit 112 in morris,IL. By far one of the greatest ma and pa's! Not just the food, the restaurant is pretty cool, and they have a hell of a bakery.

Didn't that Ambest change hands recently? I thought I heard it had- that would be a shame. The food wasn't cheap, but it was always good. And the lot was pretty big too.
