DONT go to the Flying J at the Sunbury Oh exit 131 on I-71 north of Columbus. The salad bar is substandard at best. The things that are supposed to be cold arent and vice versa.
We went in there for breakfast and I decided on the buffet. It was cold, I told the waitress, she took my plate, left the check and never came back. Not even to refill the coffee. My husband got pancakes from the kitchen so his was ok. An employee was looking at the buffet and I told him about the food being cold, he checked the water, then had it changed. When I went up to the cashier I told him (same guy who changed the water) that he needed to take the buffet charge off since I didnt eat it, it was cold. He told me I should have had the waitress warm it up. I asked for the manager... He begrudgingly took the money off the ticket. No tip for the waitress who never came back and they werent that busy either.

What do you all think about this?
Iam trying real hard to get my cookie bakery up and running the entire concept of my business is that "it comes to the customer"! I would tell you the name but Iam in the process of getting everything legal so I must be careful but I assure you it is a cleaver name that says it all in the name....
anyhow....I have done very well when I go around with my basket full of homemade goodies and my next adventure is to try the truck stops.....
would you truckers love it if you had someone bring big fresh homemade cookies to you?
Just want some feedback......also what is the best time to sell?
Thanks for anyone who has an opinion

Second, you said it's homemade. Well, the local or state health department would not like you selling things that were not generated out of a commerical kitchen without their inspection.
The best time to sell would be dinner time. -
i love togo to truckstops and watch the other truckers sneeze then scratch there ### then grab food from the buffet with there hands
then i goto the truck and cook mine
To DoxyGirl i wouldnt care for cookies but if you did real HOMEmade foods id like it myself hard to find good home country cooking like ribs, chops real mash taters etc.
Might be expensive but id bet you would be sold out daily.
Far as favorite dont rem the name but it was long time ago when there was one truckstop in laredo had a little country steakhouse up the road had a gaint steak and taters -
Cowboys isnt that a bar

I am sitting in the lot of the Shell/Texas Best Smokehouse # exit 571 on I-20 in Tyler TX. Food was pretty darn good and I got some jerky to take with me. The place is really clean inside and there is parking for probably 40 trucks. The parking lot is nice smooth concrete and very well lit. I have stopped here a few times and will again. Check it out next time you go by. The only drawback might be the fact that there are no showers here.

The Petro 2 in Clearwater MN off I-94 Exit 178 has an awesome sandwich bar with homemade bread, mmmmmmmm.
The Kwick Trip in Wilson WI of 1-94 Exit 28 used to have a steak special on friday nights that was to die for, not sure if they still do, it's been a few years, but the food there is pretty reliable every day of the week.
If you're into chinese buffets, there is one in a little strip mall in Olney, IL off Hwy 130 on the west side of the road. They allow trucks to park there as the lot is usually pretty empty, they honey chicken they have rocks.
There is a BBQ joint in Ozark, AL off Hwy 231 in the Inland truck stop that is really good, but only if you get there early in the day(around noon to 2) while the food is still fresh.
There is a really good mexican restaurant in Immokalee, FL. Not sure of the street name, but it is right across from the farmers market where you can park the truck. Awesome burritos and tacos.
The Dodge City Truck Stop at Exit 299 on I-65 in Alabama has cheap breakfast special that is really good, their buffet (breakfast and dinner) is a very dependable choice, and they have a chicken fried steak with sausage gravy on the menu that will make you want to come back. -
Try the TTT in Tucson AZ and order "Omar's Favorite" for breakfast, you can thank me later.
The Triple T in Tucson is has the best open faced roast beef sandwich I've ever had and they have real mashed taters. Also, they have the best apple pie with 8" of soft serve ice cream on top. I lived 10 miles from there for about 2 years and would eat there weekly.... -
the best food anymore is what I cook myself in the truck....made some cornbread to go w/a can of stew and it tasted oh so good. We were hole up in Ashland KY on Wed when that nasty ice storm rolled through the state.......cold weather and hot cornbread and cold milk just kinda makes the best of a very bad situation...
don't forget the real butter too
