On the flatbed side i pulled covered wagon an open deck when i started in 94. We had 6 ft sides. I'd rather do the covered wagon than open deck. I thought tarping the covered wagon was easier. Securement was sometimes more difficult tho.

All we did for hazmat was hazmat dust from steel mills and contaminated soil. Both required that you bag your trailers with plastic. It made loads come out easier and prevented tail gate leaks.

Agreed. That what I started with and it could be a real pain otr. I'm back to a covered wagon now too, but all I haul are steel coils, maybe an occasional load of sheets. No need for anything but chains and j-hooks now.

    I've never hauled coils.

I wouldn't say a monkey can do it, but as far as flatbed freight goes, its gotta be in the top 3 easiest things to load and secure.

Me personally i like running the PNW region . Pulling flatbed. Ive found u can get decent rates on west coast if u stay out here ... every once in awhile somebody pays me enough to go east of i35 but its rare. I dont really care to go otr anymore. I like running the mountains.

I've always thought logging trucks were pretty sweet. Being out in the woods beats the highway any day.

A friend of mine always says I'm nuts. We live in the midwest. I love running out west and back. I don't mind running in the mountains even in the winter. For me it presents a challenge which i enjoy meeting and over coming it.
