Every month we have a safety meeting that is live streamed on FB, you can go back in at a later time and watch the safety meeting. I was watching out most recent safety meeting and our head of Sales took a few minutes to talk about out current freight volumes. He said we are a preferred carrier with most of our customers, and thanks to our 97%+ on time delivery we are in good shape, even as other carriers try to come in and undercut our bids. Another point he made is we have one particular customer who shall remain nameless, that has recently been holding drivers up, not having loads preloaded when they are supposed to be, and they basically told the customer, get your act together or we won’t be hauling your freight. That goes to show you, the powers that be here care about the drivers time, listen to our input, and won’t put up with a customer continuously holding up drivers.

I’m about 72 miles from my 0700 delivery in Va. Beach, I will roll out of here about 0430 to comfortably make my appointment. The morning rush starts a little earlier than normal in that area because of all the military bases. After getting empty, I will deadhead 3 hours away to pick up a broker load going to Sioux Falls, SD for a Wednesday delivery.

I talked to my companies third in charge on Friday. Told him we have a great group of customers with almost no issues. Hardly ever wait. He said that when they sell their services, they also educate the customers about how precious the drivers time is. Whatever they do and say works. I don’t think I have spent more than hour at a customer except once or twice in the last 3 months.
