    No load out today so another day at the homestead. Still nothing on my QC this evening. I guess freight is a little slow and since I am down in the pecking order...........

    Dropped in Four Oaks about 1130, dispatch wanted me in Manning, SC by 1500 for a pickup (176 miles) , I hadn’t taken my 30 minute break yet so it was going to be tight. I pulled into the customer about 1435. Went to check in, the shippers looking at me sideways, “you were supposed to be here this morning”, not me, I received this dispatch 3 hours ago. He had me loaded in 20 minutes, this load is going to Hastings, Nebraska for Friday.

    After that, I will pick up a preloaded trailer in Aurora, Nebraska going out to Tracy, California for a live unload.

    After I drop in Fond Du Lac (Smuckers), head over to Jackson WI for a load to Omaha that will drop at the CB yard Saturday morning, then pickup preloaded in Omaha to Nazareth PA for Monday. After a slow start (two extra days at the house) this is a nice finish to the pay period!

    Things on a truck will break and wear out, the key is to keep a maintenance fund well funded, right now I have over 12K in my maintenance fund, in the next 3 months I’m going to put 8 new drives on. The tires I want will cost me about $4700 installed. Before I pay myself I put money in my maintenance fund, tax fund, and slush/vacation fund.
