i went onto sxm to use the radio out of the truck , and it prompts me by asking for who purchased the vehicle and some other things like the zip code, How do you get around this?

I’ll do my best to update as often as I can as my life moves down the road. I’m home loading the truck down and getting the stuff I need to stay out for the next month. (Living in East Tennessee they said expect at least 2 weeks out) I’ve been with a dedicated company for 4 years and don’t have any gear anymore to stay out for any period of time.

But I’m hoping after I drop this van load Monday, I can get back up towards NE to a flatbed trailer to drag around somewhere.

I've followed this thread for some time and decided to come aboard this past August on the SW Regional fleet to get home more often than my last flatbed gig. Overall a decent company, nothing to write home about....I'm guessing it is better if you worked for a low-rent van company prior like many on here seem to have done. I have learned there is no Breakdown Pay for anything under 4 hours, so the flat tire I found in my pre-trip and 2.5 hours spent getting it fixed is on my dime. I told Shane that will be the last time I report one unless I'm on my 10, home time or a blowout. I guess tires are cheaper than compensating a driver that has found an issue prior to it becoming a problem. I've also been short on 3 checks in my short time here....mainly due to FM not reporting extra spots or detention. I attribute most of this from them being unwilling to spend $10k to activate Workflow on our ELD that they had prior to the last mandate. I wrote my times on the BOL, notated it on the Trip Sheet, submitted the macro and still don't get paid correctly. Maybe we can go to smoke signals and see if that is better than filling out Trip Sheets from 1985??? And the Load Planners seem to not think past the end of their nose....for example, last Friday I'm in Sioux City and am.told that I will bring a Richardson load to the yard in CB and grab my home load. I get there and trailer isn't on the yard, it's enroute from Richardson in Sioux City. Why they didn't they have me grab it there and head on home which would have been less miles is beyond me. And I can't count how many times I've shown up.for an appt only to find out it is much later than what I was given or shown up for a pickup only to find out I'm supposedly the first guy at FCC to learn the load has cancelled. While the company has a cozy feel, the lack of basic efficiency on many fronts has me plotting my next move.

Well all I can say is your experiences are night and day from 99% of the drivers I personally know here, and drivers that post on this thread. You do realize your not automatically paid detention here right? FCC pays detention once they have collected it from the customer. There are times you won’t collect detention because the customer doesn’t pay.

FCC isn’t a fit for everyone, maybe you need to find a company that fits your needs.

Yeah, I have learned that....which is wrong. Like I said, if you came here from a low-rent van company this place might seem like a Utopia because they smile and give you a reach around while they slide it in. I guess my expectations are higher from a company that receives such high praise from you and others on here.

@YardMule89 Bud, I’ve been in this industry for going on 26 years. I’ve pulled just about every type of trailer and been in different parts of the industry. Oil field, heavy haul etc. so I didn’t just come from a starter van company four years ago when I came here. I can almost guarantee your the type of driver that blames your misery on everyone else but yourself. Whoa is me.

So not being paid Breakdown is acceptable to you, not being paid detention is acceptable to you? Of course you're pulling $1.10 + FSC freight so I guess your 26 years makes you an expert. Like I said, they smile and give you a reach around and suckers like you that pull cheap freight, get a loaner after you wreck your truck and deem themselves an expert. I've done 3600 and 3200 miles last two weeks in 5.5 days, so I don't sit around and loaf....but after things happen so many times you can longer pass it off as a coincidence, unfortunately guys like you will round up the cheerleaders and sing their praises even though you're not smart enough to see how bad you're getting screwed. If you want to advocate for uncompensated work then fine, it just tells me what kind of driver you really are.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I spent 4 days at a hotel this past week while I was broken down in KS.
They paid me almost $1200 for my troubles. In addition to a $457 hotel bill reimbursed coz I don't stay at flea bag motels.

Those are just my facts. Utopia is impossible in this industry, and fairness and integrity almost as close. I came here from being an independent o/o so no low rent van company either.

They have been more than fair and ethical. Those are just the facts.

This will be my last response to you. I have always been paid for breakdown (when I was a company driver) they’ve always bent over backwards to compensate me for other issues that have come up. But I guarantee the difference from drivers like me and drivers like you is. I do my job with out whining and complaining. I communicate with dispatch and the office personnel in a professional and respectful manner. I run where ever I’m dispatched, I’m not a Prima donna driver that won’t go here, and won’t go there.

In the next month, my truck will be paid off. Last year for all mile I grossed $1.35 all miles, a pittance I know. But yet somehow, I’ve managed to pay off my truck, pay my bills, buy an RV, and put $20K extra annually into my savings account, but yeah I’m barely scraping by.

I wish you the best of luck, if you stay here, I hope things turn around for you. If you decide to move on I hope you find the company that will be the right fit for you.
