When I was buying my own fuel, I NEVER even considered the fuel tax. It's pretty much irrelevant as far as purchasing decisions go.

Our prices we get on the app already have taxes included. Pretty handy app, especially with how quick prices change anymore.

What would the best price on a 2019 International lt625 be that might be what I go with to buy.

edit to add: the 10 speed automatics were way worse as far as power and speed. You definitely did not pull out in traffic with those. ZERO pick up at all. The 12 speeds are much better.gntorres61 Thanks this. -
As an owner operator, my biggest expense is fuel, so I choose to run slower. It doesn’t cost me but a few minutes a day. I still get to where I’m going on time, and last week still averaged 636 miles a day. My 90 day average for fuel economy is 8.4mpg, and that’s with winter blended fuel. My normal cruising speed is 63mph. On two different runs in the past 10 days I actually bumped it up to 65mph.
I tell people all the time, I’m in business to be as profitable as possible, period. Not to look cool running down the road. This truck allows me to do that.
The only negative I’ve found with this set up, is that a had to replace the cam shaft and rockers at 423K miles. The X15 has had a history of cam issues, but other than that it’s been a solid truck.cdavis188, gntorres61, MidWest_MacDaddy and 4 others Thank this. -

And just out of curiosity, I just checked my company discounted fuel prices around St Louis and compared them to fuel in neighboring Illinois. I wish I was up there just so I could fuel in Illinois right now lol.
Current fuel tax in MO is .22.
Fuel tax in IL is .62.
That’s worth understanding.
Fuel tax at the pump is actually a pre-tax paid on the assumption you are going to use all that fuel on that states roadways. You actually pay - or get reimbursed - when you file your mileage with IFTA.
Or something to that effect…lolLast edited: Dec 9, 2022
