This drug did a pretty good job controlling blood sugar, but it has the bad side effect of making you gain weight. Most users of the drug that I know have gained 30 to 60 pounds or more. I have tried both Avandia and Actos (a sister drug) and i gained about 40 lbs, then it came back off after I stopped using either one. But I can also say that I have dealt with 2 different endocrinologists, including one that is a professor, that swear up and down these problems dont exist and those two drugs are the greatest things since sliced bread. So, whom should we believe? I just love telling a $250/visit specialist that I am not going take the medicines that he prescribes, but in this case, im not going to run around being 60 lbs overweight and die from heart failure...
