MOVE. Seriously. You can always "move back" when you are ready to buy a house.
Get a SD address through escapees, then find an employer who will accept you with a CDL. Go through CDL training, obtain your license, then drive that company's truck. You can usually park your car at their terminal. When they ask you about home time, just tell them to route you through their terminal once a month or so (so you can start/run/drive your car around for a day or two), then get back into the truck.
There's nothing in the US that says once you leave a state you can't return, so "move" to where they have no state income tax, drive a few years stacking as much in the savings account as you can, then "move" to the state in which you wish to reside and buy that house.

You can get something else and who knows. You might find a better place after seeing all that’s out hereAnother Canadian driver and Awara Thank this. -
When I went to cdl school in jeffersonville indiana there was a guy who was homeless and the company who we worked for allowed the driver to have his mail sent there. Companies do not charge for you to leave your car parked on their lot. You will be assigned a truck and you will be the only one who drives the truck ( in most cases) so you can stay in the truck 24/7 7 days a week. The only time you may have to leave the truck is when it is in the shop but sometimes shops will let you stay in truck. We had a shop on property so the homeless guy I was telling you about only went to his van when truck was in shop for a couple of days. We actually had showers and laundry facility on property. I think that guy may leave in personal vehicle time to time if he wanted something to eat but all in all he stayed in his truck.

Thank you everyone. I think I should move to a $500 little room. But $500 is still so much money. I could do so much with that. $500 is a boatload of money, $6000 in a year. I send less than that to my parents back home. Renting a home sucks, you get nothing at the end. It is like leasing a car.

I will talk to my landlord and give him an offer, let's see what he says. $100 a month for my mail and address. And he can give my place to another tenant. He has my ID and has known me for 5 years.
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
When I get hired by a company, do I get some kind of employee card with my name and picture on it?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
@Awara --
Be ver-ry careful how you get into the truck driving business.
Especially with what appears to be the beginning of a recession.
You need to plan your entry carefully, with CDL schooling, choice of first employer, etc....otherwise....very soon....it will be....

One thing to think about too is you will either have so much stuff in the truck you can't easily move companies, thus have to put up with the abuse the company dishes out, or you will be eating very unhealthy and expensive food.
Personally I would find a room to rent out in the country somewhere (less rent) that allows you to come home every few weeks and relax outside the truck and you can also use the time to make healthy food for when you are in the truck.GYPSY65, Another Canadian driver and Awara Thank this.
