I hope I am not just speaking for myself, when I say this. But, the trucking industry is become a more 'FED" run industry, and quite frankly I am more that a little upset with the way things are going. The limitations that are being placed on companies and drivers are becomeing more and more irratic, and leaving most of us without. Now correct me if I am wrong but I heard that there are 29 more regulation changes to come over the next 27 months reguarding HOS and many other things. And I feel that much more is going to put all of us average truckers out of alot. Between companies not paying us hub miles but hhg miles or zip code to zip code we are loosing about 7% or maybe more of our mileage per trip, and out low rate of pay anyway it seems like the "FED" just dont care about our nations hardest working individuals "TRUCKERS", even though we deliver all the goods across the country from food to clothing and many other things needed in everyday life. Why are we getting the short staw out of all of this while the companies we work for are making millions in profit every year while we are just trying to feed our families and survive. It is deffinetly time for someone to step up and say enough is enough the ATA and the OOIDA dont seem like they are doing much to help us at all. I am starting to wonder if they are not gettin some kind of government kick back.
"FED" UP

Agree.....well said!
Can you imagine the changes i have seen over my career?
It is about more than i want to keep up with.
I'm working on finding another line of work!
I have been a Marine mechanic and thinking of starting my own shop but with the economy the way it is that is a huge gamble.
I may just sell off my stuff and take the RV and buy a bit of mountain land and tell the world to kiss it!rodknocker and Joetro Thank this. -
truckers are scared of their own shadows theses days. It ain't just the young whipper snappers either or new breed truckers.

Drivers are afraid to speak up

It is very doubtful that old timers are scared of their own shadows. They have been through thick and thin.poppapump1332 Thanks this.

Not all companies pay HHG rip-off miles. Most these days pay at least "Practical" miles. Some places actually do pay hub miles. ME? I get $19 an hour, regardless of what I am doing. I get Overtime for anything over 8 hours per day. I usually get a 10 hour or longer day, which pays $209 or more. Home every single night, and making about $1,100 a week.
And I am **NOT** a Union driver. I work for a Driver Leasing company. So far I am happy there. I make good money, and if the job gets to be too much, I can ask them to send me somewhere else to work.
Don't let these companies brainwash you into thinking that what they offer, is what every company offers.rodknocker Thanks this. -
I know plenty that nearly cause me to jackknife at the coops when I'm behind them

It could very well end up that Americans born and raised in the U.S.A. will NOT go into trucking, therefore the jobs will end up going to immigrants the way of other jobs in construction, meatpacking, poultry processing, dairy and crop farming, along with other occupations that have become predominately immigrant labor intensive. The trucking companies will NOT go out of business.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
Thank you all for replying! I would hope that all of this may cause a spurr in reaction from alot of truckers and possibly start some kind of fire somewhere. I think it is time we all got together and stood up against this tyranny because that is really what it is and nothing more. I have a voice and am not afraid to stand up I hope many of you are the same way!
