The colleges generally pay for that and set it up. While I was getting acceptance letters from schools they would offer to bring me up to have a look a look at the school. Remember these are kids who've been accepted to the school.

NTSB "go" team is assigned to investigate this crash. Several articles say a sedan was involved and the FedEx truck either side swiped it before crossing into oncoming lanes or hit it before hitting the bus. Wouldn't surprise me if tailgating was a factor.
blairandgretchen, chalupa, gpsman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Coulda... but if you have any video of any FedEx (or UPS) truck not being operated by an obvious moron I'd love to see it... tomorrow, or a year from today.VegasfanNJ, biggare1980, blanco and 3 others Thank this.

If a truck isn't tailgating someone, it's only because they can't at the moment.77smartin Thanks this.

This was an obvious terrible tragedy. There will be lots of speculation. Thing is I know a lot of people who are leased on and who work for FedEx directly. They are super strict with things like speeding, etc. The way it looks right now comes right down to driver error, unless the car hit his steer or something like that, don't know if you remember the accident in Texas where a car ran into the steer of a Pepsi truck, sending him careening into the jersey barrier. Those things happen. Either way, people are dead and this will be with these kids forever.

"Investigators say the truck driver might have been trying to avoid a passenger car that was also involved in the collision." Huge difference.
Yeah, a lot of "bad luck". -
You must mean they are required to speed. The only time I've seen a FedEx truck not speeding was when they couldn't violate the laws of physics.blairandgretchen, Dipschitt, pearcetrucking and 2 others Thank this.

One of my best friends is leased to Custom Critical, he rarely drives above 63. Might be different on the other sides of FedEx, and I've seen FedEx do some insane stuff (Wyoming I-80 anyone?) but no more than I've seen other companies. I'm not taking the side of FedEx here, I don't know what happened, but thought I would inject some personal experience with FedEx. You gotta remember, FedEx has a lot of trucks on the road. Bigger numbers, more visibility, you take notice of when they do crash. Same with Swift or Walmart.Redman30, blairandgretchen, Hitman and 3 others Thank this.

All FedEx trucks are not the same. The FedEx freight guys are governed slower than FedEx ground. I don't see the freight guys speeding near as much as the ground guys. Freight guys are paid by the hour. I am not sure how the ground guys are paid but believe its more of a traditional mileage rate.blairandgretchen, Hitman, zmpart and 6 others Thank this.

No, I've noticed for decades FedEx (and UPS) trucks are invariably operated by nitwits who shouldn't be licensed to drive nails.
Driving in the R lane ~at the speed limit provides a lot of opportunity to observe speeding motorists.
You do drive in the US, right...?VegasfanNJ Thanks this.
