Fedex Freight, I recommend them even if you are a newer driver.

Before you start the training you will spend about 1 week in class. Gotta read a book that has I think 400 pages then take a test for each chapter that you read on the computer. It's pretty easy you have 3 tries for each test.
After that you will start the driving training
1st week is in the yard doing all types of backing with a pup
2nd week Basic: driving in the city with the pup and also 48 ft. (Your instructor will make you back to some warehouse doors here and there)
3rd week is the advanced and final week: Driving with the 48 ft. trailer and also hooking up doubles and driving around.
They want you to pre trip and hook the set in 30 minutes or less. Only works in the perfect world
If you don't do well in the first week in the yard you can try again next week. Same with basic and advanced you can use 1 extra week to improve.
With 4am early start, I guess you're loading trailers for city driversTexas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -

first snow of the season in ohio ..... about an inch and half ..... not very slick and state was on top of cleaning it off 7 trucks in the ditch and 2 of them were FedEx day cabs with doubles one FedEx contractor with doubles ...... obviously there is no sense there ...... 65 mph rain or shine or snow or ice .... construction .... anything by far the worst drivers out there besides the Russians and somalis

Great thread, thanks for the info. I just passed my cdl license test and obtained all my endorsements on thursday and applied yesterday evening for fedex freight driver apprentice position, as well as usf hollands driver apprentice position.

Screw Fedex Freight...I got all the way to the road test when I had only 8 months experience but I couldn’t shift well in a 10 speed due to me driving a 7 speed for my experience, so instead of taking me in and helping sharpen my skills, the guy acts like an a hole and says “ you’re not cut out for the job, I think you should look for other opportunities”, it killed my spirit that day and I almost quit trucking...now I can shift well and I wouldn’t dare go back to apply to them just because of that...

Dont take it personal @DuvalKid its just the nature of the business.

it's obvious that they don't check intelligence

But I’m saying, they hire newer drivers, so why not help a person out instead of throwing them to the curb? The next company I found, was so nice and helped me become what I am today with shifting.
