Yep those are perfect. They make some with really aggressive spikes and I found that to be a bit much. On just a little bit of snow, it’s almost overkill and you feel like what I imagine it to be walking in high heels. With that chain design it’s a good uniform pattern across the boots and can dig in without having to worry about cracking an ankle.

Bumper, dwells40 and Lonesome Thank this.

I was at FedEx ground from 2014-2022. I really loved the terminal to terminal and how laid back it was.
But the thing that irritated me the most and finally led to me leaving was how much they make you wait. They’ll call you and tell you a load is ready when it’s not. One day I waited 4 hours for them to shut the doors on my trailer.

Another, is when you do a butthead. That’s what Fedex ground calls their meet ups at a halfway point and you switch trailers with someone else. Most of the time they always send you out super early and you’re always waiting for the other driver. He might be an hour away or just leaving his terminal and you’re dumb ### is already at the meeting point.

Also, that stupid buddy app, some terminals don’t use it so keep an eye out for that or terminals will ignore it and you’ll have to go in or call them and tell them you’re ready for your load.

Friend, Lonesome, Bumper and 4 others Thank this.

I’ve heard about those exact stories. Though no job is perfect anymore, these issues you speak of, though irritating, aren’t nearly as bad as some of the garbage I’ve been through the last 6 years. I think for being on a guaranteed salary and not having to chase miles, these things will be acceptable. But the 4 hour wait to close trailer doors, that might get me a little perturbed. Thanks for the insight though.

Today is a complete day off. Doing some laundry, which I never do on the road, but I only left the house with enough clothes for 2 weeks. So, I’ll take care of this to get me home. Right now though, I’m having breakfast. Even though my room comes with free breakfast, I need a change of scenery. So, can you guess where I’m at? Hint, scattered smothered and covered is my choice.

One last thing. And it pertains to the last company I was at. Since my official resignation date of 12/30/23, which was last Saturday, I have received 3 phone calls from previous trainees at said company asking me for some help about customer p/u, one asked me about routing to a customer in California and one wanted help in routing around Wyoming. I helped every one of them without hesitation. I did it for those drivers, out of respect for their job and issues at hand, never once belittling the previous company. I’m just curious if the previous company gives a rats ### about that?

I had an interplant linehaul with a manufacturing company a few years ago. This is what caused me to quit. The plant managers agreed that the trucks should meet between 12-1PM. I was always there at 12-12:15, fuel up, and then wait for my return load. In the 7 months I did this, he was there before 1:00 twice. Most times, it was 2:00, 2:30, etc. He didn't care, that I was sitting in an empty lot south of Cleveland, in a hot day cab, waiting on his dumb arse. And the plant managers did nothing to rectify it.

How often do you do the dolly without a tail thing? You always leave the service valve open when you do that?

Some people don’t like to and will open the emergency valve while leaving the service side shut off.

Does it have the little propeller on top? :biggrin_25523:
