my salary is guaranteed. Right now I’m on hometime, when I get back to the truck tomorrow my pay starts. Because the pay period starts at 12:01am on Saturday. I will miss one day of pay. It’s my choice. Hometime is far more important in my world.Old_n_gray, Vic Firth, Lonesome and 4 others Thank this. -

@Lumper Humper the cost of living there is astronomical and it’s more of a destination type city these days, doesn’t seem to be rooted in the values of country music anymore as much as it is a theme park for drunks and bachelorette parties. Still a fun place to visit, take a ride down lower broadway on a Friday night and you’ll see what I mean though.
austinmike, IH9300SBA and Lumper Humper Thank this. -
First thing I do is go get a dolly with my tractor. Next I position the dolly right in front of my second pup, literally 6 inches from it going under the rear trailer. Next I go get my lead trailer and line it up with the dolly to within 6 inches of the pintle hook. I then hook the dolly to the lead trailer, then push the lead trailer and dolly under the rear trailer, do a tug test, then hook my lines. If this doesn’t sound right any step of the way, I’m completely open to suggestions from those in the know.
I did learn through observing and asking something that seems real simple, but saves me a bit of time and effort. When I first started breaking down my set, I would drop the rear trailer, then pull the dolly out from under the rear trailer, drop it right in front of the rear trailer, then go and drop my lead trailer, come back, hook the dolly then bring it to the dolly drop pad. Now, I drop the rear trailer, bring the dolly that is still hooked to the front trailer to the dolly drop pad, then drive back and drop the lead trailer. Doing away with that step of picking up the dolly just to drop it at the pad saves me from moving a 1500 pound object that is as stubborn as all get out. The only time I do it like I use to is if I’m rehooking another set, if I am and have a good dolly, then I’ll keep the dolly. I’ve been known to keep a dolly hooked to my truck a day or 2. That comes from hooking a set, going to check out, then find out the dolly is out of service. Then I have to break the set down that I just hooked. Not fun.Last edited: Feb 17, 2024
