LTL and package freight has so many variables to keep the wheels in motion. We were overloaded with Dallas freight in St. Louis and they were looking for volunteers to run the weekend. Sure I’ll do it. They had my cut time at 8 am Saturday I was gonna meet a Dallas driver if Afton OK swap sets and come back. Great. I’m down there a half hour. Then an hour. Then 2 finally I called making sure I was at the right spot. Silence on the phone and they didn’t get the other side covered. Then it was just take it to Oklahoma City. Great. Call back, no just take it to Tulsa. Fine too. They call back. Do you have the hours to run it to Dallas? Not anymore. Alright take it to Springfield MO. Okie doke. Get to about Springfield, “there’s a Dallas team coming to St. Louis they need to get home just take it to St. Louis.” Money and time well spent! lol correct me if I’m wrong, but it still seems like a jacked up day at FXG is better than a good day at your previous employer.

No matter the company, I can’t imagine juggling all the pieces of the puzzle to just keep wheels rolling. Obviously some companies do a better job for sure. But I just can’t imagine what goes on behind the scenes.

So, I come out of bed and am told to hook a set. After hooking it up the supervisor walks out and says hey old there has been a change. Break set but keep your lead and grab an mt. Ok, you just made me $90 dollars. $30 for each set. Send me to a via and drop set but still keeping my lead and grab another loaded for the tail. Ah, but the tail trailer is blocked by another trailer. 2.5 hours on the clock there. The joys of ltl.
Lonesome, High Stepper, DonRobbie and 2 others Thank this. -
Sounds like easy money. Just think, you could be like that driver in another thread where his dispatcher was telling him how he needs to log off duty for a 6 hour tanker reload so he can save some driving time.
Old_n_gray and JohnBoy Thank this. -
I was just posting about the stupidity of some of our dispatchers This kid could be old enough to be my grandson. Has absolutely no clue.
JohnBoy Thanks this.
