Been a rather nice week this week. Was off Saturday and Sunday with Saturday a paid day. From Monday to today, which is the end of my pay period, I’ve done the same schedule all week. Except for Wednesday when I got done in Olive Branch and on my way back to Humboldt, got a call from Tom my Ops manager asking me to rescue a trailer from one of our trucks that broke down at the shipper. I checked my hours and had just enough time to be a hero. Got done back in Olive Branch at 0100 Wednesday morning and was told to take my 10 there. Other than that, it’s been very uneventful. I’ll say it again, nothing beats the peaceful quiet running around in west central Tennessee.
Now on to a very surprising issue that took place this week. My health insurance for myself and my wife kicked in on March 1st. Since then, I’ve been going over my pay voucher/stub religiously like I always do. We are paid through ADP and their system is very simple and straightforward. I kept noticing my payroll deduction was not coming out. I called my Contractor, texted him, and every Thursday when our paystub is available, I would see it wasn’t there. He kept telling me he would look into it. I sort of felt like I was being brushed off. Finally, last Friday, the first deduction came out. I’ve had coverage this whole time, my wife and I have used it for my prescriptions, Dr’s visit, and new glasses. So I knew we were covered. After a month of this, I just let it go. So last Friday, I sent him a text letting him know the first deduction came out. He finally called me 10:30 Tuesday night. I told him everything, and he started laughing. He told me that he does that to all the drivers he hires as a sign on bonus. He pays the first 3 months coverage in full as a bonus. I was speechless. I offered to write him a check in full, Zelle him the money owed, work out a payment plan, whatever needed to be done to pay my share. He had to tell me 3 times it was my sign on bonus. I’m still shaking my head.
Just got a call from my Ops manager to go over the schedule today and Sunday. 3 local D/H’s, two of which are 20 miles away and are brought back here to Humboldt, the final one is 39 miles away and then is brought to Olive Branch with an empty return to Humboldt. Tomorrow I get a days pay to bring one of our other trucks to KW to get a PM done, Saturday off, Sunday 2 runs to Memphis.wulfman75, Albertaflatbed, High Stepper and 9 others Thank this. -

Hometime scheduled. Will be flying home from Memphis next Saturday morning for a week.
One of my perks here when I decided to take this job was vacation. I get 2 weeks paid after 6 months, which is July 2nd. My wife and I are flying up to NY for my 50th HS reunion on October 18th and 19th, then taking a New England/Canada cruise out of NY on the 20th. My contractor wanted to know if I wanted my vacation pay on my 6 month anniversary. I told him no, and gave him the dates I’m taking vacation. He told me every other driver except for one team, which is the team that convinced me to come over that I worked with for years over at Abilene, can’t wait to get to 6 months in order to take their vacation pay. Me? I want the time off. 2 paid weeks off at 6 months was the deciding factor for me. -
