Last night home. Leaving in the morning to head back. Should be back about 6pm.
We are one step closer to retirement. The house was put on the market at 0700 this morning. Already have 2 appointments schedule for tomorrow and 2 on Sunday. For those that are following along with my pending retirement, here is our home.

Playing the airport shuffle today. On my way back to Memphis then Uber to Olive Branch to pick up my truck and take an empty back to Humboldt. Will do one round to Memphis tonight. Yesterday was payday with a little surprise, it included a Christmas bonus. Got an email explaining that yes, it was the Christmas bonus that is paid a little early. I wasn’t here for last Christmas so I had no idea. In fact, for what I make per week, I really wasn’t expecting a bonus. It’s much appreciated, but this was, for me, a complete surprise. Abilene paid .01 CPM for all miles run from January 1st to November 30th. That came to on average $1250. This was the same amount for about 77K miles. From what I understand, the bonus is calculated on what the profit of the truck is. After Bambi destroyed my truck the beginning of the summer to the tune if $21K, I’m surprised there was any profit made at all.
On another note, it’s getting harder and harder for me to leave. My wife and I did a little running around yesterday, spent most of the day home, relaxed, got caught up on Yellowstone, and went out to our favorite ice cream place with the dogs for a treat. Got back home, packed and enjoyed my wife, home and dogs. I can’t wait until this career finally has an end to it. February can’t get here fast enough.Last edited: Nov 30, 2024

I definitely envy you. I’m at the age to retire but after a horrible marriage ended 10yrs ago and the 200K I paid her I need to work a few more years. I have a weekends off private fleet job so it’s not that bad. Be safe out there.

Been busy since getting back after Thanksgiving. I had a first last night. This time of year, because of how busy and heavy our freight is, we have a boatload of rental trailers nationwide. They’re all brand new, half have roll up doors and half have swing doors. For the first time since I started in January, I had to pull out of the dock, walk to the back, and literally close the doors and seal the trailer. I had a panic attack because I hadn’t swung a door in 11 months. I took a deep breath, and conquered my fear, closed the doors, sealed the trailer and left. By the time I got back to the Humboldt hub, I was cool, calm and collected. Thank God I didn’t forget my door swinging expertise.
