Check in time. Got back to the truck Thursday morning. Wednesday afternoon I was instructed to call in on my drive up to the truck. Sitting in the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts, I got a call from my manager. I was set up to bobtail back to Orlando, grab an empty and head back to Savannah. I figured this was going to happen. The way the system works is like this, FedEx owes a trip back to my domiciled hub from where I ended up. I ended in Orlando the week before, bobtailed to Port Saint Lucie then went home. I then bobtailed to Orlando, got assigned an empty trailer move back to Savannah, then got paid my full days salary for 7 hours work. Part of my thinking goes back to my mileage counting days, where I don’t get paid for the miles back and forth to the hub. Then I realize it doesn’t matter, I’m on salary. Last week I worked only 5 days, missed 2 days salary, but made it up with my mileage bonus of 650 miles which amounted to a $650 bonus.
On the health front, I had an appointment with the Radiologist who will be doing the Proton Radiology if that’s the route I’ll choose. A week from Monday I have an appointment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville with the surgeon who would be doing the surgery if that’s the route. My wife is flying up to Savannah next Sunday. I’ll work Sunday, then have her pick me up at the hub and go to a hotel. Leave Monday morning and drive the 2.5 hours to Jacksonville and meet with the surgeon, then drive back to Savannah, she’ll drop me off at the hub and drive the 3 miles to the airport and go home.
I will make the decision of which way I’ll be going on my drive back to the hub. Which ever way we choose, it will be done in May.
Time to go do my Linehaul deal, be safe everyone!CalculatedRisk, 88 Alpha, jarhead0311 and 14 others Thank this. -
